😳 From a valuation day… to Everest history…

This incredible find came in at our recent in-house valuation day at Holloway’s… and it’s anything but ordinary 👀

A silver archer’s arm guard, engraved “The Cheshire Bowmen Challenge Prize”, first awarded in 1854 to Reverend George Mallory.

But here’s where it gets fascinating…

He was the grandfather of George Leigh Mallory… the legendary mountaineer who disappeared near the summit of Mount Everest in 1924. His body wasn’t discovered until over 70 years later… and to this day, it’s still debated whether he reached the summit decades before Hillary and Tenzing.

A remarkable piece with a direct link to one of mountaineering’s greatest mysteries.
