Andrew is a full-time bagpipe instructor with Aberdeenshire Council and holds a Batchelor of Arts degree with Honours in Scottish Music from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Andrew is currently the Pipe Major of Turriff & District Pipe Band in grade 3A and has previously played in grade one with Police Scotland Fife, Torphichen and Bathgate and Lothian and Borders Police. He also spent several
years in the National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland and was part of the band that recorded the ‘Illumination’ album at the Old Fruitmarket in Glasgow. Andrew also performed at the memorial service for Alexander McQueen in London with the band. Andrew is a huge supporter of piping and pipe bands at grassroots level and tries to innovate with new material to go alongside the amazing repertoire we already have in Scottish Traditional Music. In 2020, Andrew had a number of his own tunes published in ‘The Turra Coo Collection’. This was a big project involving band members and many friends of the band. It was great to work with some of the best young pipers in Scotland.
2020 allowed Andrew to hone a number of existing skills. With amazing new technologies at our fingertips, Andrew cannot wait to work with pipers throughout Scotland and beyond!
