🌱 Did you know…

* Healthy soil contains more living organisms than there are people on Earth.

* Compost helps lock carbon into soils.

* Food waste can become a resource rather than methane-producing landfill.

* Organic matter is one of the most important indicators of soil health.

Small changes can create a big impact 🌱

Many of us are trying to reduce waste, but it’s easy to overlook the everyday items we use without thinking — things like toothbrushes and coffee pods.

Traditional products often end up in landfill and can take years (or much longer) to break down. Switching to compostable alternatives is a simple way to reduce unnecessary waste while keeping the routines you already love.

For example:
🪥 Toothbrushes with compostable heads, such as Suri toothbrush heads, can help reduce plastic waste from an item we replace regularly.
☕ Compostable coffee pods can offer the convenience of pod coffee while reducing the amount of single-use waste left behind.

No one has to change everything overnight. Sustainable living isn’t about perfection — it’s about making better choices where we can. Small swaps, repeated every day by many people, can add up to meaningful change.

Sunshine grows crops. Compost helps crops make the most of it. ☀️🌱

Plants capture energy from the sun, but they still need healthy soil to turn that energy into strong growth. At Gray Composting Services, we turn organic material into nutrient-rich compost and use it back on our family farm as an alternative to inorganic fertiliser — feeding the soil, improving structure, supporting microbes, and helping fields hold onto water and nutrients naturally.

Turns out sunshine works best with a good supporting cast. Even the sun needs a little help sometimes.

That’s why, using Gray Matters.

Wow, what a weekend! 👏

Once again, everyone involved in delivering the Scottish Traditional Boat Festival should be incredibly proud of what they’ve achieved. What a fantastic event to have right on our doorstep.

There were so many highlights throughout the weekend. The global stars were outstanding, the food was 🤤, and the entertainment was 🤩 — especially Skip to the Beat (not that we’re biased or anything! 😉).

We’d also like to take a moment to recognise outgoing Chairman David Urquhart. His dedication, commitment and leadership have played a huge part in the festival’s success over the years, and he will be a huge loss to the event.

As long-time supporters of the festival, David has always been an absolute pleasure to work with. We thank him for everything he has contributed and look forward to continuing our support in the years ahead with whoever picks up the baton next.

👏👏👏
