Hi Rotters
Spring is nearly here and for the first time in twenty year we won't be round to collect your garden waste.
On a more positive note we do have enough compost left to keep your gardens happy for at least another couple of years.
Please keep supporting your local community composers and we will keep that compost coming to your gardens.
Large dumpy bags and 30 litre sacks can be bought on the Rotters shop or leave your telephone number on our answering machine and we will get back to you.
Telephone 01833 690022 or www.rotters.org.
Thank you so much for your support.
Happy Gardening.

Large dumpy bags and 30 litre sacks can be bought here at the Rotter's Shop or leave your details on our answering machine and we'll get back to you (01833 690022).

Sadly after 20 years of providing Rotters Community Composting we find ourselves in a position where we are no longer able to continue.
As you can imagine in 2022 we struggled with the crazy spiralling cost of fuel and everything else that was thrown at all of us. We sent many letters to our elected members and county council but all of this fell on deaf ears.
After continually crunching numbers over the Christmas period we have come to the final decision to close Rotters.
We will still provide our top quality compost over the next few years. You can buy it from rotters.org or phone and leave a message and we'll get back to you.

We would like to thank all our wonderful Volunteers and Staff who have been involved over the past 20 years and worked so hard on this great project.

Thanks for all your support

We require a good team worker to join Rotters quite late in the season, starting 6th September through to 18th November. The hours are 9am to 4.30pm Monday to Thursday, 28 hours.
You will preferably know the Teesdale area well and be physically able to collect and empty the green waste sacks, deliver compost and work back at the conservation centre.
You must be able to contribute positively towards our long established, friendly, not for profit organisation.

After 19 years our old trommel has given up, it was 10 years old when we got it and we have rebuilt many parts to keep it going, now the rot has gone too far. We estimate it's sieved over 49,700 tons of compost, that could have gone into 2.4 million 50 litre compost bags or 82,000 dumpy bags.
Below is a photo of our new trommel delivered today, it has been built specially for us and is fully electric, so less noise and less Co2. Let's see if this can do the next 20 years !
