Why encapsulating stained glass isn’t always ideal

* More glass = more reflection — the additional pane can make the stained glass appear less vibrant and harder to appreciate.
* Can look less like traditional stained glass — reflections can dominate the appearance, especially from certain angles.
* Loss of visual detail — intricate lead lines, textures and subtle colour variations can become less defined behind the extra glass.
* A heavier, bulkier unit — triple glazing adds thickness and weight compared with a double-glazed solution.
* More expensive — encapsulating stained glass within triple glazing can significantly increase the overall cost.
