Simple Tricks & Tips Series - Part 1: Getting Started with AI Productivity
Welcome to this 5-part weekly series where I'll share practical AI tricks that anyone can use to boost productivity and work smarter. No technical jargon— just simple, actionable tips you can use today.
Why AI Matters for Your Daily Work
AI isn't just for tech companies anymore. Whether you're in marketing, sales, finance, engineering, education, or any other field, AI tools can save you hours each week. The key is knowing how to use them properly.
Trick #1: Master the Art of Prompting
The quality of your AI output depends on how you ask. Instead of vague requests, be specific:
Weak prompt: "Write about marketing"
Strong prompt: "Write a 300-word LinkedIn post about content marketing strategies for B2B companies, focusing on leadership and including 3 actionable tips"
The difference? Specificity in audience, length, format, and desired outcome.
Trick #2: Use the "Act As" Framework
Tell AI what role to play. This dramatically improves relevance:
● "Act as a senior data analyst and review this spreadsheet for insights..."
● "Act as a career coach and help me refine my CV for..."
● "Act as an expert copywriter and improve this email to..."
This simple addition gives context to the AI's response.
Trick #3: Break Complex Tasks into Steps
Don't try to do everything in one prompt. Instead, chain your requests as in the example below:
First: "Create an outline for a presentation on quarterly sales results"
Then: "Expand section 2 of this outline with specific data points"
Finally: "Suggest three compelling visuals for slide 4"
This approach gives better results than asking for everything at once.
Trick #4: Save Your Best Prompts
Create a personal library of prompts that work well for your regular tasks. Treat them like templates you can modify and reuse. This saves time and ensures consistency.
Your Action Step
This week, try improving just one repetitive task with AI. Whether it's drafting emails, summarising documents, or brainstorming ideas—start small and build from there.
Next week in Part 2: AI tricks for writing and communication that will transform how you create content.
