With the summer holidays coming to an end, September's a good time to make some new business connections. If that's on your list, come and join us next week.

Alongside the usual mix of local businesses getting together over breakfast, we've got Phil Parker from Artmakers coming along to do a presentation and share some of his experience. Phil is one of Europe's most distinguished independent development consultants and has run his training and development consultancy, pH Screenplay, for over thirty years. His clients have included Aardman Animation, the BBC, Channel 4, CEE Animation and loads of independent producers and screenwriters.

It's on Friday 4th September at The Barnstaple Hotel, 7:15–8:45am.

As always, it's a good chance to meet some new people, catch up with familiar faces and have a proper conversation over breakfast. Last Friday, North Devon Networking met bright and early at the Barnstaple Hotel for the Summer Challenge. What was it?

Everyone was split into teams, shared a quick fact about themselves, then got handed the task sheet, complete with cryptic clues on how to build the best structure. The challenge: 10 minutes to build the tallest free-standing paper tower possible, using just 20 sheets of A4 and 20 inches of sticky tape.

Easy? Er, not as easy as it seemed!

Lots of discussion, amusement and deep thinking (!) later, we had a variety of building styles, from Greek pillars to triangular foundations to an Eiffel Tower.

The winners? "Team Eiffel" - Andreas Nest, Rob Miles and Kelly Collier, whose tower reached an impressive 180cm. Congratulations!
