Town of Culture Callout: Young Creatives🌟

Bring us your Basildon!

Things Made Public have got another super exciting creative call-out live!

They're looking for young creatives aged 16–21 with something to say about Basildon.

Music, film, photography, fashion, art, writing, performance, digital - whatever it is, you don’t need to be a professional artist. You just need an idea.

10 × £250 commissions are up for grabs to create something inspired by the town, with the ideas helping to shape Basildon’s UK Town of Culture 2028 bid and what could happen if we win.

🎓 The Basildon Skills Show is happening today!

We’re at Basildon Sporting Village where school children are exploring exciting career opportunities with local businesses, employers, skills providers and education partners.

It’s a great opportunity to discover the skills, careers and pathways available right here in Basildon and South Essex.

🕒 Open to the public: 3–5pm today

If you’re a young person, parent, career changer or simply interested in local opportunities, come along and find out what’s on offer!

Basildon Skills Show is coming back!

🕘 9am-5pm
📍 Basildon Sporting Village

This showcase allows young people to get inspired, and for employers and training providers to recruit new talent!

👉 9am-2:15pm – students from local secondary schools are bussed to the Skills Show

👉 3pm-5pm – the Skills Show opens to the public as an all-ages careers fair, the biggest in the region, with attendees ranging from college students considering their next steps to adult jobseekers looking for work or to upskill!
