This is one of many reasons I ALWAYS recommend GLUE-DOWN LVT. A matter of days after this was fitted the customer unfortunately dropped a chair when moving furniture and severely damaged a plank in the middle of the large kitchen-diner.

Using some heat and gentle persuasion I removed the damaged plank a glued a fresh one in from the spare material the customer had left over from the original fit. (I did forget to get an after picture but it looks perfect. The customer kept the spare flooring indoors so the floor was acclimatised and fit perfectly into the slot left by the removed plank).

This replacement took me approximately half an hour to do while the same with a wood/laminate/click LVT would have taken many hours and would have potentially caused damage to the tongue and groove systems they use to hold themselves together. Along with causing major disruption to the customers home.

When investing in a floor it is important to think about more than just the look. Glue-down LVT looks fantastic in itself but also has properties that allow for repairs like this!

Remember also that preparation is key! This material is very thin and improper preparation will be visible through the material as years go by. Done properly and cared for this flooring can go a decade and still look fantastic!

Had the pleasure of fitting two different styles in the same house recently! Difficult to see with the colour and lighting though. The first is “Ships deck” style where a feature strip is laid in between each row of floor; the other is simply straight lay.

Could a ships deck floor be for you or is a clean and simple straight lay more your style?

Days ago this was carpeted, now the customer is able to enjoy a stylish, easy clean floor in their hallway instead!

Three more rooms prepped and fitted, perfect result! Wish I could have stitched the floors together. The customer had already had the hall fitter prior and the colours were not a perfect match (hard to tell in the photos) so I had to put doorbars in. I did continue the hallway stagger into the rooms so it still has a natural looking transition.
