Ever wonder where your old mattresses go? 🛏️♻️

Today we’re loading a full artic of mattresses ready to be transported for specialist processing.

To speed up production, mattresses are carefully pulled out from incoming loads and separated from the rest of the waste stream.

Once enough have been collected, they are loaded onto a lorry and sent away for further processing. At the specialist facility, the mattresses are stripped down and the metal springs are removed for recycling.

The remaining material is then sent to an ERF (Energy Recovery Facility), where it is used to generate energy instead of going to landfill.

It’s all part of making sure as much waste as possible is recovered, recycled or reused in the most responsible way possible. ♻️

The unsung hero we simply couldn’t operate without, our Sennebogen 355e🧹 (featuring some satisfying lines)

From the early hours, she’s hard at work clearing debris, removing hazards, and making sure our yard is safe, clean, and fully prepared for the day ahead. Their fleet of modern, well-maintained lorries is a key part of our commitment to transparent and sustainable waste management.

There’s something incredibly satisfying about watching a Waste-A-Way lorry being loaded on site, whether it’s carrying materials destined for an ERF (Energy Recovery Facility) or heading off to be recycled into new, reusable resources.

Every load represents a step forward in our mission to reduce environmental impact and increase resource recovery.
