One of our colleagues undertaking the monthly update of the written Tell Tale report. Each one is checked every day and recorded by colour band, we then carry out another check where we note the measurement, not just the colour. We are looking for change and if it happens then we respond according to the Trigger Response Action Plan. Helps us manage the control of ground, keep us safe from harm and keep the blocks flowing to the surface.

A lot of work by a lot of good people goes into every production shift at Stoke Hill Mine. That usually starts with risk assessment (Bow-tie, STOP assessments, task based). In these images the team are assessing the roof beam with a colour borehole camera after setting a Tell Tale, this gives us valuable information about the condition and behaviour of the roof. Good decisions depend on good information. If you have the right information you can act on it. Without it you are guessing.

Whilst the sun shone and we ran block to surface we hosted a reciprocal learning and familiarisation visit with the team from Portland Stone Firms. Thanks to their Mine Manager, Andrew Jackson and all the crew for making the long drive up.
Sharing safety and efficiency procedures supports all areas of business, long may it continue.

As we wrap up another year, everyone at Bath Stone Company would like to say a big thank you to our customers for your continued support and custom.

We’d like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Our last working day will be on Tuesday 23rd December, with last collections being at 12:00pm

We are then closed for the Christmas break and will reopen on Tuesday 6th January 2026.
