The Tony Hancock film, "The Rebel" is a really great example of what it's like to hate your job.
Hancock works for a accountancy firm and spends his morning commutes looking at his fellow travellers, wondering what their lives are like and thinking if there was the same train running in the 1980s, some of them would still be on it.
Does that sound familiar?
It certainly did to me. I used to do much the same thing when I used to commute to London: the rush to get a good seat and then seeing the same faces, day-in-day-out, knowing that some of them would still be doing the same thing for years and probably still are (although perhaps with not such a greater frequency, post-pandemic).
Like Hancock's character, I didn't want to be like that. He wanted to be an artist, I just wanted to be a writer (although I used to paint and would like to do that again).
So if you've found yourself wanting to get away from seeing the same faces on the morning commute or get away from the 9-5 grind completely, then I have something for you.
