Hare's Garage in Carthorpe, Bedale is a friendly, modern and fast growing independent garage based in the village of Carthorpe, just outside Bedale. We’re proud of our reputation for honesty, reliability and exceptional customer service and we’re now looking for a Service Administrator to join our team.

Whether you have experience in a service role or you’re looking to start your career in the motor industry, we’d love to hear from you.

The Role
As our Service Administrator, you’ll be the first point of contact for customers and play a key part in keeping the workshop running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities
- Greeting customers and providing a warm, professional service
- Managing bookings for MOTs, servicing and repairs
- Updating customers throughout their visit
- Preparing job cards and maintaining accurate records
- Liaising with technicians, suppliers and partner garages
- Supporting the team with general administrative tasks

About You
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Friendly, positive and customer focused
- Organised, reliable and able to multitask
- Comfortable using computers and learning new systems
- A good communicator with strong attention to detail
- Experienced in customer service or administration (motor trade experience is helpful but not essential)

If you enjoy helping people and want to be part of a supportive team, you’ll fit right in.

Hours
25.5 per week over 3 days. Hours can be flexible to suit the right applicant.

Wages
£13.25 to £15.00 per hour depending upon experience.

🎉 Six Years of North Yorkshire HR Solutions 🎉

Somehow, between supporting clients through restructures, investigations, grievances, and the daily rhythm of “Can I just run something past you…”, I missed a milestone.
North Yorkshire HR Solutions turned six.

Six years of doing the work I set out to do: giving SMEs clear, calm, commercially minded HR support when they need it most. What began as a simple ambition has grown into a business that I am genuinely proud of.

This past year has brought two major developments.
Becoming an accredited Breathe HR Partner has strengthened the support I can offer to clients looking to streamline their people processes.
And launching my online learning platform has opened up new ways for SMEs to access practical, flexible training that fits around the realities of running a business.

As we approach one of the biggest shake ups in employment legislation in years, including changes to employment status, day one rights, family friendly provisions and the wider reform agenda, this work feels more important than ever. SMEs will need clarity, not noise. Practicality, not panic. That is the space I am committed to holding.

On a personal level, these six years have shaped my life in ways I did not expect. Building this business has given me purpose, independence, and the privilege of doing work that genuinely matters to the people I support.

It has taken me to new places and given me the freedom to work from anywhere, all while staying fully present for my clients. It has challenged me, stretched me, and made me better at what I do.

To my clients, past and present, thank you. Your trust is the reason I get to do this. You let me into the heart of your businesses, and you allow me to help you navigate the tricky, the sensitive, and the strategic. I never take that for granted.

Here is to the next chapter: guiding SMEs through legislative change, strengthening good practice, and continuing to provide HR support that makes a real difference.

🎄🎄 A Christmas Message from Claire’s Assistant 🎄🎄

As Claire wraps up her final bits of work before the holidays, I’m officially signing off from my HR duties for the year. It’s been a demanding role, let me tell you.

All year I’ve served as:

• 🐕 Visitor greeter: No one enters without a full tail‑wag inspection.

• 🧘 Wellbeing officer: I remind Claire to take breaks by staring at her until she gets up.

• 🔐 Desk security: I monitor all snacks, pens, and parcels for suspicious activity (and potential treats).

• 🚶 Motivation coach: I insist on walk breaks to keep productivity high.

• ⏰ Time‑management supervisor: When it’s time to log off, I simply sit on her feet.

• 🛋️ Soft‑furnishing quality control: Every cushion is thoroughly tested for comfort. Sometimes twice.

But now I’m moving into my Christmas roles, which are far more serious:

• 🎁 Christmas tree & present security: I guard the tree from intruders.

• ✨ Bauble inspector: I check each one for sparkle, wobble, and chewability.

• 🛍️ Gift‑bag auditor: I stick my head in every bag. You know… for compliance.

• 🍗 Turkey taster: Someone has to ensure quality. I volunteer every year.

• 🧦 Stocking checker: I confirm all stockings contain appropriate snacks.

• 🌟 Festive ambience manager: I supervise the cosy vibes and approve all blanket arrangements.

• 📦 Wrapping paper recycling operative: I shred, scatter, roll, and redistribute. It’s a full service.

• 🎉 Chief unwrapping assistant: My favourite job… helping open presents, then diving straight into the leftover paper.

The importance of making a note of both formal and informal conversations or situations and incidents that occur in the workplace can not be underestimated. It is often those seemingly insignificant conversations or occurrences that are the golden nugget when a dispute occurs. A quick file note that documents the date, conversation or incident and names of those present or witness can save hours and make all the difference ensuring prompt management action can be taken when needed.

Fabulous day with clients
at the Hopscotch Early Years Consultancy Nursery Managers ‘25 Conference yesterday and great to meet the lovely Julie & Leah from Realise.

Ending the day with a mini Zumba session was great fun. Looking forward to day 2 today! Laura’s challenge today is to incorporate the words Garlic and Pepper into her presentation!
