Happy Year 1 business anniversary to me!

I am not sure where the time has gone, but I will be raising a glass to myself.

Proud of what I have achieved so far. Have learnt more about myself than I ever thought possible.

Lucky and extremely grateful to have been supported by friends, colleagues, and new faces, contacts and coaches :)

I have spent the last 12 months building my business, so much so that sometimes if i'm honest I haven't had time to actually enjoy the journey.

Over the last few months, I have noticed that what I really need to do is: stop, listen to myself and reflect on what I truly want and what is right for me.

Self-care has been way down on my list of priorities, so I am calling an intervention with myself.

There will always be changes and challenges and things won't always go the way I want them to but I need to find better ways of coping - which in the long term will be best both personally and professionally.

So tonight it's off to hot yoga for me (the first time in 18 mths).

Work hard but more importantly Dream Big!!

Yesterday I spent part of my morning speaking with the fabulous Laura Cruise for an episode of her "Your dream or mine podcast". I was incredibly flattered to be asked to speak on my first ever podcast.

It was so lovely to take some time out to talk about our dreams, our businesses, why we started them and what we would like to achieve.

Everyone has dreams whether they are big or small and everyone should be able to follow their dreams. It is especially nice to be able to take some time out to remember these dreams and the driving why of starting our businesses.

Starting my own business was a result of the pandemic but I always had a dream that I wanted more from life. I'm not saying it's easy, some days are particularly tough but I love the fact that there are people in the same boat and I am so glad that we continue to support each other.

I will let you know when the episode is live but if you can't wait until then would highly recommend listening to Laura's podcast.

As a business owner taking time out is especially important.

I took the 4 day Easter break and thought I may work but in the end made the decision not to.

No calls, no emails, no planning, no social media - focusing on me and switching off.

I feel relaxed, refreshed and refocused ready to start the week again.

Setting boundaries is important, hard to stick to but needed for both business owners and clients. Being constantly available is not a good thing.

I am lucky I can set my own working hours, I decide when I work.....I just need to remember these boundaries now and again so I can truly enjoy my business.

Yesterday I started the first session of my business coaching.

All I can say is I am so glad that I made the decision to invest in this. Being a one man band is tough but it is great to be able to work with others to help you move forward.

After the session I experienced a range of emotions and I will be e taking some time out over the Easter break to process and reflect.

I don't find being vulnerable and opening myself up the easiest thing to do but am so glad I have the awareness to realise that this is what I need to progress not just my business but personally as well.

Having the flexibility to move my work around my life - being able to enjoy the sunshine whilst it’s here.

Knowing the work will be done and that I am available if anything urgent should come up.

Life is short let’s enjoy it whilst we can!

As a new business owner, I have constantly read or have been told of the importance of niching and at the time of setting up I wanted to be able to offer clients every possible skill that I have.

I have been in business for just over 9 months and during this time, I have finally found my niche.

I have been working with a coach and can now see with some clarity that my business has two parts:

1 – Events Consulting/Strategy/Support
2 – Virtual Assistant + Social Media Strategy/Content

I am lucky to have two niches and can now spend time working through the skills in each part in order to offer the best services for myself and my clients.

I love the fact that my business is constantly growing and evolving and that I have the courage to be able to take the LEAP each time (sorry for the pun 😊).

Lockdown has provided me with the perfect time to start my business.

It hasn’t always been easy and there have been challenging times, but not being able to go anywhere or do anything means I have had time to focus on me and my business.

Rather than be upset that I spend some weekends working, I keep telling myself that I am lucky to have the time to spend ON my business rather than just IN it.

I have the support of some amazing women with who I am able to bounce ideas around, ask advice, and just perform basic sanity checks now and then.

I have learnt that finding time to focus on your business is important but finding the right support network is a must.

I have said it before but the best investment you can make is the investment in yourself – whether this is outsourcing tasks/projects, coaching, training courses, learning new platforms or spending time working out what is important to you.
