Lots of exciting developments round our way...
1. Our amazing neighbours Beerfly have launched their crowdfunding collab with Foxy Wings Bedford. Exciting times - check out their crowdfunder here...http://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/foxywingsbedford, you could pick up some amazing goodies (including art work by another of our Bedford crushes Katie Allen).
2. Vanilla Tree have got Vegan Brownies on their counter today and that needs celebrating .
3. The Vardo have reopened just around the corner from us with courtyard seating and the salad bar of dreams - I mean, c'mon

Well yesterday was a bit different! Thanks to everyone who has been in touch to check in - it means a lot. I've come in today to marvel at the damage and sweep glass off my desk 😬.

The driver was unhurt - investigations are ongoing and of course we wish him and his family well.

Thankfully only Dan was in the office at the time and was saved from eating flying glass by his enormous (never will I call them OTT again) computer monitors.

Its going to take a while to sort the damage but we'll be back with new windows asap!

School kids in Bedford need our help!

Some are still struggling to access online learning because they don’t have a digital device.

We can’t let them be robbed of their education for want of a laptop, so my office has teamed up with the High Sheriff of Bedfordshire and Bedfordshire Learning Link in association with the Level Trust to launch a digital device drive.

Please donate if you can.

If you can’t donate a digital device, please spare some money for the fund for refurbished laptops.

Looks like it’s closure for Christmas here at Bears & Tales, and for so many others also. All of us indies have worked our bottoms off to be compliant during these times, ensuring our venues are as safe as possible for you lovely lot, but it seems our doors must remain closed.

But! Fear not. You can have a cocktail Christmas! Over the next two weeks, we’ll be changing our collection dates to Thursday the 24th and Thursday 31st so that you can sip tipples to your hearts delight over the festive period. CCBS FAMILY ASSEMBLE!

We will be donating all of our tips today and tomorrow to FACES charity who help to feed the 10,000 children over the holidays that will go without a meal and live in poverty in our very own town Bedford. Please dig deep and pop in to donate even if you are not getting a trim 🙏

Well this is some fantastic news to be able to share on a dreary Monday Morning... massive congrats to the whole team at Esquires!!

We are extremely excited (and relieved) to announce that Esquires have been awarded a grant as part of of the Cultural Recovery Fund, issued by Arts Council England, Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport and HM Treasury.

Having been shut for 7 months, this funding was make or break for the long term future of the venue and many sleepless nights and anxious days have finally felt worthwhile. Waiting for the announcement today almost felt like it was the most important day in Esquires' history and with these funds we believe that we will now be able to secure the future of our staff and your independent music venue.

A huge thank you has to go out to Music Venue Trust, who have worked tirelessly for the sector to be in this position. Also a massive thank you to everyone who has stuck by us and supported us over these past weeks and months, it's been the only thing keeping us going.

Now I know literally no one wants to hear this but Christmas is going to land at The Arc on Monday...I know, I know, we’re the worst, Halloween isn’t even out the way yet..we can only apologise but the huge obsession I have with Christmas coupled with my ever present fear of another lock down means get your tinsel out and your mulled wine on cos this is happening..!

Here’s a sneak peak of some wonderful bits we have for the kids and we have a lot of super cute stocking fillers to be revealed on Monday along with all our usual craft and animal heads. Come on, you’re starting to feel Christmassy right?? Nope? You hate me for subjecting you to this? Wait til you hear about my campaign at for our Christmas music to also start on Monday 😬😬

Great news from our neighbours Quarry Theatre at St Luke's.

EXCITING NEWS! On October 16th, we shall have our grand (covid secure) reopening. To mark this we will be screening the classic Nosferatu, featuring live musical score from composer Chris Green. Tickets for all events are very limited due to social distancing restrictions so get in quick. We want you to have an enjoyable and safe visit so expect a beautifully clean venue with many Covid secure systems in place. Join us in welcoming theatre back.
