The Dating Clinic 🩺 — is “cuffing season” actually real?
Short answer: yes. As the nights draw in, people look to pair up for winter — and it’s not just a meme. Dating-app activity genuinely spikes from October through the new year (the busiest dating day of the year is the first Sunday in January 👀). Cold weather makes people want someone.
It gets a bad rap — “settling for a warm body till spring.” And done badly, that’s what it is. But there’s a better version: the long nights make people reflective, and a lot of them get genuinely serious this time of year, because winter strips it back to what you actually want — connection, comfort, someone in your corner.
So use the season — just with intent, not desperation. Don’t cuff the first person who’ll have you. Find someone you’d still want come spring. 💛
