JOB OPPORTUNITY

We are currently recruiting for:
Archaeological Site Assistants

Remuneration: £24,862.50 to £26,812.50 Depending on experience

Principal Duties:
• Assist and work as part of the archaeology team to excavate and record archaeological material.
• Identify, excavate and record archaeological contexts under supervision including the preparation of context sheets, scale drawings and photographic documentation.
• Carry out calculations in the preparation of measured drawings and field survey, undertaking repetitious tasks without loss of concentration.
• Assist with a range of post-excavation activities including processing finds and samples, assisting with the production of reports.
• Achieve work targets agreed with the Archaeology Director managing the project including communication with contra tors, as appropriate.
• Assist with the maintenance of the health, safety, security of sites and premises at all times.
• Support communications, social media activity and events to enable wider engagement with audiences, in liaison with colleagues and the Business Manager.

Desirable criteria:
• Full clean driver’s licence and willingness to drive company vehicles.
• A valid CSCS Card.
• Proven ability to manage own workload.
• Excellent organisation skills.
• Ability to produce high standard work.

This is an excavation of a large multi ditched enclosure.
Start date: 12th or 19th September 2022
Expected duration: 13 weeks
Weekly rate – site assistants- €600 (dependant on experience) plus €50 subs.
Supervisors- €700 plus €50 subs.

We are currently seeking excavation staff for immediate start on our long term project at Downpatrick.
This is the excavation of a large scale multi phase site set within a probable iron age hillfort plus an additional famine era graveyard. The excavation is anticipated to last until January 2022.
Pay scale for site assistants is £400-£450pw dependent on experience level. All taxes, pensions contributions and holiday pay included. CSR/Safe pass preferable but can be provided. Any additional H&S training such as manual handling provided. All PPE provided.
