Jones Town Planning are pleased to have recently received planning permission for the installation of a ground based solar array consisting of 108 “double-mounted” photovoltaic (PV) panels, on land within a rural location in South East England.

The application was submitted following a positive pre application submission with the LPA. The site is located within a National Park and is also in close proximity to a listed building. We supported the application with a detailed planning statement, together with an appropriate heritage assessment, biodiversity assessment and landscape statement, all in accordance with local plan and technical advice note requirements. We were pleased that there were no issues of concern raised by the LPA nor were there any objections from the local community and there was agreement for the development as proposed and planning permission was granted accordingly.

Once again it was good to obtain a positive result to meet our client’s needs, the support of the LPA and also, in a modest way, make a contribution to the wider climate change agenda. Jones Town Planning Ltd are pleased to announce that we have recently received planning permission, at appeal, for the er****on of an outbuilding within the curtilage of a property in North London. Whilst the description sounds relatively modest, the planning issues surrounding the reason of refusal were more complex; including the proposed siting to the front of the property, located within the Green Belt and a conservation area, application property being a non-designated heritage asset, adjacent to a statutory listed building and potential tree constraints. Therefore, the proposal and refusal posed a number of questions. However, we were able to put forward a positive case to address all these matters.
We put forward a successful argument and evidence to show that the development did not constitute inappropriate development in the Green Belt. Likewise our evidence showed the siting of the building was well screened and the careful, considered, design meant the development did not have a harmful impact upon the character and appearance of the conservation area. We also prepared a heritage statement which considered both the designated and non-designated heritage assets. Finally, the application was accompanied by an Arboricultural Impact Assessment and Method Statement. We were pleased that the Inspector accepted all our arguments in relation to the above constraints and allowed the appeal.
Whilst it was a modest scheme, as the case involved the consideration of a number of sensitive and complex issues, our satisfaction with the decision needs little amplification and also another happy client

Jones Town Planning are pleased to have secured planning permission for a building to incorporate stabling and storage for equipment to manage the adjoining land in Buckinghamshire. The proposed application needed to consider a number of constraints including green belt location, ecology matters and proximity to a group of listed buildings. We put forward a clear case to address all the constraints including important input from the scheme’s ecologist, ROAVR Group, and the scheme architects, LIFE-UDESIGN. At the same time we maintained regular and constructive dialogue with the Planning Officer Council’s ecologist and NatureSpace advisers. We were pleased to see the Council fully accept our arguments and conclude that the development was not inappropriate development, was not harmful to ecological matters and did not harm the character and setting of the nearby listed buildings and ecology. A really pleasing decision to provide needed facilities for our client.

Jones Town Planning Ltd are pleased to announce that we have recently received planning permission for two separate planning applications both involving the change of use of a building to provide further education and training facility. The properties were located in South London and East Sussex. The London site had a number of constraints to address including its backland location, close proximity to residential properties and vehicular access. However, we were able to put forward a positive case to address all these matters, including an appropriate travel plan to address the transport queries raised by the Highway Authority. The other site had similar considerations in relation to transport, and again we provided appropriate information and travel plan to address the queries raised. We were also pleased with the positive and constructive approach of both LPAs, throughout the application process. Overall a pleasing result for our clients and the provision of much needed further education facilities.
