Matt McCloud, drum and percussion teacher

I started playing drums at school studying with Martin King within the Hull music service attaining high honours at grade 8 standard in drumkit. After playing and teaching around Manchester for several years I moved down to London to further my playing career. Some notable gigs include playing for MTV at their London HQ, playing at venues across Europe (Prague, Barcelona, Florence) with orchestras

and bands, Emirates palace (Abu Dahbi) and all over the UK including the Southern lights festival (Dorset) and a gig at Queen Elizabeth Hall at the Southbank centre. Matt has had the privilege of working with artists such as Steve White, Bez, Peter Hook and Greame Park to name a few. Teaching

Matt has been involved in music education since leaving university and is currently teaching part time for east riding of Yorkshire music service where he teaches pupils from ages 8 – 18 and has developed an effective method of teaching absolute beginners to advanced players and also teaches at Marple Hall secondary school, Stockport. Over his time taking on private students Matt has enjoyed a 100% pass rate whilst entering students for guildhall drumkit exams, but of course emphasis is on musical education not just technical ability.
