❤️ WHY 5TH SEPTEMBER?

Today is the International Day of Charity.

The date was chosen to honour Mother Teresa, who died on 5 September 1997.

The day recognises the difference that charities, volunteers and ordinary acts of generosity can make to people's lives.

And charity isn't always about giving money.

Sometimes it's giving your time.
Sometimes it's lending a hand.
Sometimes it's simply being there.

What does kindness mean to you?

Blog Day is here! ✉️

Okay, we know we’ve already been talking about letters this week… but we couldn’t resist giving our latest blog a little shout-out too!

The Lost Art of Letter Writing: Why a Handwritten Letter Matters

There’s something quite special about a handwritten letter. The time taken to write it, the anticipation of waiting for it to arrive, and the memories that can live on long after it was written.

For some of the people we support, letters can be little pieces of their history. They can bring back memories of family, friendships, special occasions and people who may no longer be around.

Our latest blog explores why something as simple as putting pen to paper can still hold so much meaning, and why paying attention to the things that matter to someone is such an important part of good care.

Sometimes a change of scenery is exactly what’s needed.

Sara and one of our lovely ladies headed out for a day together, enjoying a little exploring, plenty of conversation and simply making the most of the day.

It’s not always about where you go - it’s about having someone alongside you to share the day with.

Well done, Sara, for making it a day to remember!

Sometimes it’s the simplest things that bring the most joy.

Julie brought along a musical banana for one of our music-loving clients to have a play with. You each hold one part, and when you touch it together, it plays music!

A little bit of fun, a lot of laughter, and something chosen especially for someone’s interests. It’s these little personal touches that make a visit special.

Well done, Julie - we think this might be the most musical banana we’ve ever seen! 🍌🎶

Happy World Letter Writing Day!

Today, 1 September, celebrates the simple joy of putting pen to paper and connecting with someone in a more personal way. ❤️

In a world of instant messages, a handwritten letter takes time - and that’s what makes it special.

So, if you could write a letter to absolutely anyone, who would it be?

Elvis? Marilyn Monroe? Your favourite author or musician? Or perhaps someone you love who you’d just like to say a few things to?

It's Blog Day!

The latest article in our Understanding Care series is now live.

This month, we're looking at a topic that many people have heard of, but often don't fully understand until they need it:

Lasting Power of Attorney: Planning Ahead for the Future

Many people assume that their spouse, partner, children, or next of kin can automatically make decisions on their behalf if they become unable to do so. In reality, it is not always that simple.

In our latest blog, we explain what a Lasting Power of Attorney is, the different types available, why it is important to plan ahead, and how putting one in place can provide reassurance for both individuals and their loved ones.

While it may not be the easiest topic to think about, understanding it now can help avoid confusion and stress in the future.

🌍 World Humanitarian Day

Kindness changes lives.

Today we recognise humanitarian workers across the world who dedicate their lives to helping others during times of crisis.

Closer to home, we'd also like to say thank you to everyone who supports their local community through acts of kindness, volunteering, caring for loved ones or simply being there for someone who needs them.

Compassion has no limits.

From watering the garden to a coffee, scampi tea and feeding the ducks… now that’s a good day! 🦆

Karen spent some time with one of the ladies we support, starting the visit at home with a bit of gardening and washing the pots before deciding it was time to head out.

They made their way to The Barge & Bottle for a coffee, but clearly one drink wasn’t quite enough… so they stayed for scampi and chips too! 🍽️☕

On the way back to the car, there was just enough time for a little duck-feeding stop, making a very ordinary day into one with plenty to enjoy.

It’s days like this that remind us that care isn’t always about doing something big. Sometimes it’s about having the time and support to enjoy the things you fancy, when you fancy them. 💙

A little trip out, a lovely cuppa and a delicious scone… what more could you ask for?

Sarah recently enjoyed a lovely outing with one of the ladies we support, heading to Vine House Farm Shop for a wander around and a chance to enjoy everything the farm shop has to offer.

And of course, no trip to the farm shop would be complete without stopping for a drink and a scone! 🫖🍰

Thank you, Sarah, for making it such a lovely outing! 💙
