🚨 Operation SafeTravel – Going Above and Beyond to Protect Our Local Community 🚨

On 10 July 2026, while carrying out a routine Safer City patrol near Radford Road Tram Stop, SafeTravel Officers Faris and Daniel responded to reports of an unconscious male lying on the pavement.

Upon arrival, the officers quickly assessed the situation and found the casualty breathing but unresponsive, showing signs of severe heat exhaustion and intoxication. Remaining calm under pressure and drawing on their training, they placed the individual into the recovery position, monitored his condition, applied cooling measures, and requested emergency medical assistance.

The officers remained with the casualty, providing continuous care and reassurance until paramedics arrived. They then assisted the NHS Ambulance Service with the safe transfer of the casualty and helped maintain a safe environment for emergency responders to carry out their duties.

👏 We would like to recognise Officers Faris and Daniel for their professionalism, compassion, and swift actions, which undoubtedly contributed to safeguarding the casualty’s wellbeing.

This incident also highlights the dedication of our wider SafeTravel team, who go above and beyond every day to protect the public, support emergency services, and help keep Nottingham safe. Incidents like this also allow us to share best practice across the wider Octavian Security team, helping us continually develop and strengthen our response capabilities.

Meet the Team – Alexandra Gibbons, Paralegal 🌟

Alex graduated from the University of Leeds with a high 2:1 in Law and achieved a first-class on her dissertation, which she later presented at an academic conference and received the Spotlight of the Year Award.

Alongside her academic achievements, Alex has built a diverse range of experience through tutoring GCSE students, volunteering to teach English to refugees, participating in university societies, and gaining professional experience within both the insurance and legal sectors. These experiences have helped her develop strong communication, resilience and commercial awareness skills.

Octavian stood out to Alexandra because of its close-knit, in-house environment and the opportunity to work across a broad range of legal and commercial matters. She was particularly drawn to the chance to make a tangible impact by supporting colleagues and contributing directly to the success of the business.

As she begins her new role, Alexandra is excited to expand her legal knowledge across a diverse range of matters, learn from experienced colleagues and continue building the skills needed to progress her legal career while making a meaningful contribution to Octavian.

Meet the Team – Jhomery Aquino, Legal Assistant ✨

Jhomery holds an undergraduate degree in Law, Human Rights and Social Justice (LLB), along with a Master’s in Legal Practice (LLM).

Octavian stood out to her because, although we are a growing business with over 300 employees, we remain proudly family-run, something she feels is reflected in the way we nurture and maximise each individual’s potential.

She has always aspired to work in-house as a legal professional, building strong client relationships while developing a diverse and well-rounded skillset.

As she steps into her new role, Jhomery is excited to get involved in the wide range of projects and opportunities that Octavian has to offer. Having already experienced significant growth in her first few months, she’s looking forward to what the future holds.

Meet Our Officers – Faris Ali Javed 🌟 
Faris has been with us for 2.5 years, gaining valuable experience in public safety, city centre operations, and incident management. 
🎓 Before joining us, he completed his MSc in Information Technology at the University of Derby. Alongside his studies, he worked as a freelance IT professional, providing technical support and a range of IT-related services. 
🌍 Faris’ favourite part of the role is helping people and contributing to a safer environment for all. He enjoys engaging with the community, resolving incidents professionally, and working closely with colleagues, partner agencies, and the leadership team to achieve positive outcomes.

For his fellow officers, his advice is to always remain calm, professional, and observant. Effective communication, patience, and teamwork are key to successfully managing challenging situations and ensuring public safety 🤝

📈 Working with Octavian has been a rewarding journey for Faris, and he appreciates the support, guidance, and leadership he has received throughout. The opportunities for development and the positive culture have helped him grow professionally and build confidence.
