Another Brilliant TEP Community Day! 🌍

This week, we came together for another TEP Community Day, and we couldn’t be more grateful to everyone who joined us to make it such a success. Volunteers braved the cold ❄️ to clear litter from the River Cole, Grand Union Canal, and surrounding areas, making a real difference to our local environment. A huge shoutout to Severn Trent, whose team got into the river with their specialist equipment to tackle the tough job of removing waste from the water itself!

A highlight of the day was welcoming the amazing students from Hallmoor School again, who threw themselves into both the litter pick and tote bag-making with real enthusiasm. Their energy was fantastic, and it was brilliant to see them so engaged in making a positive impact. ♻️

The Repair Café was another big success, with ReCognition Circular CIC handling digital repairs, Reinvntd CIC leading clothing repairs and tote bag making, and Top Gunn Cycles fixing up bikes to keep them on the road. It was great to see so many people choosing to repair and reuse rather than throw things away.

We also had the pleasure of showcasing University of Wolverhampton architecture students' designs for St Cyprian’s Church and Memorial Hall, exploring how funding could transform these spaces into vibrant community hubs. The discussions around how these buildings could better serve the local area were inspiring, and we hope to see these ideas come to life in the future. ✨

A huge thank you to everyone who took part, and to our incredible partners and supporters: Severn Trent, Environment Agency, Veolia UK, Birmingham City Council, Loconomy Ltd, University of Birmingham, Asda, Dark Green Group and SSE Renewables!

We’re already looking forward to the next Community Day on 21st May 2025—save the date, and we’ll see you there! 👏

Celebrating the King’s Award Together🏆

At Webster & Horsfall Group, winning the The King's Awards for Enterprise in Sustainable Development was a proud moment for us all. It's a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire team across the group.

To celebrate this incredible achievement, we recently gathered in our school room for a special moment of reflection and recognition. We talked about what the King's Award represents, why it’s significant, and how it highlights our collective efforts in driving innovation, sustainability, and excellence.

As a token of appreciation, every member of our team received a Chilly's travel mug featuring the King’s Award logo, as we know our staff LOVE tea and coffee! We toasted to this milestone and to the people who made it possible.

Here’s to continued success, and more awards in the future! 🚀

Last week, we had the great honour of accepting the King’s Award for Enterprise in the Sustainable Development category from The Lord-Lieutenant, right here on our site.

It was a privilege to receive such a prestigious award and hear just how significant this achievement is, with only a handful of businesses being recognised in recent years. The Lord-Lieutenant, accompanied by his Cadet, Cadet Sergeant Major Tyron Wilson, congratulated us and presented the award to our Sustainability Manager, Tommy Allsopp.

After the presentation, we introduced ourselves and shared the exciting work we do at Webster & Horsfall Group and Tyseley Energy Park, including our broader vision for the energy park and sustainable manufacturing. 🌍

We’re thrilled to have our efforts acknowledged and look forward to hopefully welcoming the Lord-Lieutenant back soon for another award in a different category!

We were pleased to host our first group of students from the University of Birmingham School since the start of the new school year. They all showed a keen interest in sustainability and tackling climate change. The visit kicked off with an engaging tour led by our Sustainability Manager, Tommy Allsopp, who showcased how Tyseley Energy Park is driving change in the clean energy sector. Christopher Gell then guided the students through the Birmingham Energy Innovation Centre facilities in the Hangar.

We look forward to welcoming more students throughout the year, giving them the opportunity to learn first-hand about sustainability and the critical work we do at Tyseley Energy Park. 🌍💡

Huge Thanks to Everyone Who Joined Our Co-Creation Meeting!

Last Week’s session on site brought together brilliant minds and fantastic discussions on hydrogen networks, magnet recycling, anaerobic digestion, and climate tech innovation. These meetings continue to generate exciting opportunities, as we shape the future of TEP and the surrounding area.

The agenda was packed with insightful talks, starting with Phill Burbidge from National Gas Metering, who provided an update on next steps for establishing a Hydrogen Network at TEP. Allan Walton from the University of Birmingham shared the latest on the magnet recycling process, and Charlie Clay of Dark Green discussed an exciting proposal for Phase 3 Anaerobic Digestion.

We also heard from Simon J. (Glancy Nicholls Architects) who introduced concept designs on a sitewide masterplan. Thanks also to Simon Brown from Sustainable Ventures, who highlighted opportunities for corporate collaboration in scaling up climate tech innovations at TEP.

These meetings are key to building partnerships and turning ambitious ideas into real-world projects across TEP, Tyseley and Birmingham.
