Guidance during Rioting and Disorderly Behaviour
Good morning. All,
I hope this message finds you well.
Following on from the recent events with Riots unfolding across the UK in various cities and towns, we wanted to provide you all with some guidance to ensure that should you find yourself in a situation where you feel anxious, worried or scared, you understand what the escalation process is to ensure your safety in any and all situations. In addition, we wanted to ensure that we provide clear expectations on the code of conduct that we expect from our people in response to these horrifying targeted riots.
Safety Escalation
Should you or a colleague find yourself in a dangerous situation whereby your place of work directly or nearby is being targeted during any of the planned or any unplanned Rioting, please with urgency contact your line manager to inform them and seek confirmation on how you should proceed.
In any situation where you are unable to do either point 1 safely, it is advised that you exit the workplace as quickly as possible and return home or a safe place.
Should you find yourself in any situation where you are directly impacted or targeted by any of the Rioting and/or the racially aggravated violence or chanting, please contact the police and inform your line manager and the Control room on 01212 696803 as soon as practically possible, using any means necessary to de-escalate any situation and remove yourself as quickly as possible and find safety.
Additional Safety Measure (where practical and possible)
Depending on the circumstances, including how close you are in proximity to any known protest location, you should consider:
Locking down or securing the building as much as possible (e.g., closing shutters or doors, etc).
Leave the premises as quickly as possible in order to minimise the risk of getting caught up in any violence or disorder and inform your line manager and the control room
Ensure that all means of de-escalation are used where necessary in any situation where contact with protestors is unavoidable.
Share relevant available information regarding transport arrangements with colleagues to allow them to plan their route from work safely
ADEKINS Code Of Conduct
During this difficult time, we also want to take this opportunity to remind colleagues of the expectations of you as ADEKINS colleagues.
Each ADEKINS employee should ensure they comply with ADEKINS's code of ethics and conduct inside and outside of work.
Conducting outside of the workplace (e.g., joining protests/riots or making inappropriate comments on social media) can result in disciplinary action.
Each ADEKINS colleague must treat their colleagues with dignity and respect at all times, with this being extended to all members of the public.
ADEKINS has a zero-tolerance approach to discrimination or harassment of any form, and any evidence of such will be thoroughly investigated.
Ensure that as colleagues of ADEKINS, you are aligned to ADEKINS's Social Media Policy and all policies identified in our colleague's handbook.
We understand that times like these can be unsettling, and I would like to remind you of our EAP (Employee Assistant Programme) service at this time.
