CATiD (Critical Artistic Thinking in Design) is an international, multi-disciplinary research, design and consultancy hub based in Birmingham, UK. We believe that the quality of our environment is directly proportional to the quality of our lives, and we work with our partners and clients to achieve this. Our design-led and conceptual approach provides insight, strategy and design ideas for large-
scale landscape and infrastructure initiatives. Based on an innovative idea of landscape, CATiD's core team is developing visions for resilient cities and regions which aim to address global challenges and create holistic approaches to the landscape. Our work is designed to benefit the economic, cultural, social and environmental characteristics of each region in partnership with a growing constituency of supporters nationally and around the world. CATiD's work so far has focused on: landscape-led infrastructure strategies; theories of perception in teaching design; exploring the digital/analogue interface; modes of site analysis and representation; the spatial potential of new modes of governance and finance; the role of public engagement; and narrative and the value of analogical mapping and drawing.
