47% of UK accidental drownings occur between May and August. Enjoy the water safely this summer by following the Water Safety Code.

πŸ›‘ Stop and Think
Check for hazards and local conditions, enter the water slowly and carefully, and get out before you get too cold.

πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§β€πŸ‘¦ Stay Together
Visit the water with others and choose lifeguarded areas where possible.

πŸ“ž Call 999
In an emergency, call 999 immediately. If you're at the coast, ask for the Coastguard. Never enter the water to attempt a rescue.

πŸ’™ Float
If you get into difficulty, stay calm, float on your back and call for help.

Whether you're heading to the beach, enjoying time by a river, or taking a dip in the pool, being water aware can help keep you and your loved ones safe. RLSS UK has expert advice, practical safety tips, and free resources to help you enjoy the water safely this summer.

β˜€οΈ Staying Safe Around Water This Summer! πŸŠβ€β™‚οΈπŸ–οΈ

Whether you are jetting off on holiday, visiting the local beach, or just splashing in a paddling pool at home, water safety should always come first.
Before you dip your toes in, keep these 4 vital rules in mind to keep your family safe:

πŸ’œ Constant Supervision - Always watch children actively. Avoid distractions like your phone.
πŸ’œ Read the Signs - Look for flags at the beach. Red means dangerβ€”never enter the water.
πŸ’œ Stop and Think - Check the water depth, hidden currents, and temperature before jumping in.
πŸ’œ In an Emergency - If someone is in trouble, call 999 (UK) or 112 (Europe) immediately. Never jump in to rescue them yourselfβ€”look for a lifeguard or a throw line.

Enjoy the sunshine, make amazing memories, and stay water-smart! πŸ’™

Stay safe in the hot weather πŸ’¦

Did you know?

When UK average maximum air temperatures reach or exceed 25Β°C, the risk of accidental drowning is five times higher than on days when temperatures average 10Β°C.

With hot weather forecast this weekend, and temperatures expected to reach the 30s in parts of England and Wales, take a moment to refresh your knowledge of the Water Safety Code:

βœ… Stop and think
βœ… Stay together
βœ… Call 999 in an emergency
βœ… Float if you get into difficulty

Stay safe and enjoy the sunshine responsibly.
