Mad Studies Session 6 June @ 5pm with Dolly Sen!

Hey everyone - we have an exciting session today with Dolly Sen, artist, activist and writer. She is joining to discuss the new book she has compiled containing experiences of survivors of the mental health system which has been historically punitive toward people who are Q***r. Even the DSM manuals until recently have labelled gay people & those who do not conform sexuality and gender wise as mad, in need of treatment. A scary fact is that conversion therapy for gay people and current options for others who coping with other options are limited.

Dolly takes us discusses her excellent new book 'LGBTQIA+ phobia in the mental health services, which brings disproportionately treat higher people from a Q***r background than is comparable to the general population.

Come along - it's FREE, although donations are welcome.!

We're kicking off our Happy New Year with Tomorrow!

Jane Fisher is a Mad in the UK blogger and Lecturer at of Central Lancashire . Jane is open about her use of mental health services at work and within her publications. She will be sharing her latest paper with us: Epistemic injustice: The 'Silenced Voices'.

We will discuss how a person being given a stigmatised label is often used as an excuse by others to write the person as unreliable, not to be believed, or even a liar. How does this fare for service users who are ill and need to be able to describe what they are going through? Or who are subject to abuse? Or who just want a normal conversation with another human being?
