A question for business owners...
At what point does "great exposure" stop being enough?
I've been reflecting recently on how many networking organisations, community groups, and business communities rely heavily on the goodwill of their members.
People volunteer their time.
They promote events.
They bring guests.
They make introductions.
They host rooms.
They build relationships.
They create the atmosphere that keeps people coming back.
Yet often the reward offered is simply:
"Exposure."
Now don't get me wrong. Exposure has value.
But only if it leads to something meaningful.
New clients.
New opportunities.
New partnerships.
New income.
Otherwise, what happens is that a small number of people end up doing the majority of the work, while others benefit from the results.
I think it's a conversation worth having.
How do we create networking communities that genuinely value and reward the people who help build them?
I'd be interested to hear other people's thoughts.
