Zoe Challenor Singing and Alexander Technique

Zoe Challenor Singing and Alexander Technique I'm Zoë - trained singer (Royal Conservatoire of Scotland), Choral Director (Trinity Laban, London)

I graduated as a prize winner from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, worked for eight years at Trinity Laban Conservatoire Junior Department in London, as Choral Director and Singing Teacher. I mentor and lead music education projects for Welsh National Opera, and teach Alexander Technique one to one and in groups. I'm passionate about helping you to be heard in the world, and my teaching bring

s together my background in Alexander Technique training, personal development and musical excellence, to help you increase your vocal freedom and confidence.

Educational philosopher, psychologist and reformer John Dewey said of the Alexander Technique, “It bears the same relation to education that education itself bears to all other human activities… It contains in my judgement the promise and potentiality of the new direction that is needed in all education.”
If you like the idea of learning to use that big, beautiful brain of yours in a way that brings you greater success, come and try the UK ITM Summer Workshop in Cirencester 7 - 11 August.

It’s a rare opportunity to spend several days exploring the Alexander Technique in depth, with a welcoming community of teachers, students and newcomers. The workshop combines practical learning, discussion and observation, helping you discover greater ease and freedom in movement and everyday activities.

There’s an emphasis on learning through experience, and understanding the relationship between thinking and movement. Whether you’re completely new to the work or have years of experience, there’s something valuable to be gained.

The Royal Agricultural University setting is lovely, and many people return year after year for the learning, the friendships and the ongoing journey of discovery.

What our students say:
“A fabulous, supportive environment” Glenda
“It’s going to help you with every aspect of your life.” Sol
“There is something so supportive and so magical about this workshop experience and I’ve always loved it as a way of really deepening my experience in Alexander’s work.” Lucy

Into The Woods at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire has two more performances today - Saturday - afternoon 2pm and evening 7pm. See it if you can. We went last night. It was utterly superb - laugh out loud hilariously funny, and beautifully directed and performed. Alison Cripps (pictured here by Katja Ogrin) and all the cast are fabulous. 👏🏼

I grew this in a pot in my garden.
Well, actually, I gave it the right conditions - compost, water, access to free sunlight - and it grew itself.
People are similar.
Support them, give them the right conditions, and they will flourish and blossom.
Support people.

You’ve probably heard of John Dewey, American philosopher, psychologist, and educational reformer. He described FM Alexander’s work as bearing “the same relation to education that education itself bears to all other human activities” and continued, “It contains in my judgment the promise and potentiality of the new direction that is needed in all education.”

Studying Alexander’s work enables us to go on to learn anything else we choose more easily and effectively. When he tells us it bears “the same relation to education that education itself bears to all other human activities”, Dewey is describing the Alexander Technique as the bottom card. A foundational piece that can save years of wasted time and effort and even potential injury.

ITM Summer Workshops are a fantastic way to try this work for the first time, or to continue your exploration of the technique, in a supportive and welcoming environment.

The UK ITM Summer Workshop in Cirencester is running from 7th - 11th August.
