Our new stickers today on these fall arrest blocks (SRL’s) and person riding winches🄳

We shall be putting them on the majority of SRL’s and winches when we do the 6 monthly examinations and annual combined servicing.

Two take away points with this if your not in the know.

āœ… When using a person riding winch for lifting and lowering the person should ALSO be connected to a fall arrest blocks/inertia reel/self retracting lifeline.

āœ… if your using a SRL-R or block with a rescue winch. It is designed for rescue purposes only. It’s not designed for person riding/material winching.

Take a look at our new air purity tester.

The F6000 isn’t the cheapest unit they do but it will test breathing air from a variety of sources including:

āœ… 230 & 300 Bar cylinders
āœ… direct from compressors at 230/300Bar
āœ… and most importantly airline breathing apparatus.

The unit also doesn’t rely on Draeger tubes so there’s no glass or potential for contamination.

We’ve done air purity testing for the last few years but we’ve been using a manual unit and Draeger tubes.

Traceability and digital records have always something I wanted to improve. Better for us and better for our clients.

Did you know we did air purity testing?

It should be done every 3 months and if it’s being used for RPE/RPD it is imperative the flow rate of air is also tested.

An SSIP fast track done in less than 2 working days for less than Ā£250. Bargain šŸ˜Ž

Read til the end and there’s another money saving tip šŸ‘‡

Bit of good news arrived last thing yesterday.

Our PQS Pre-Qualification-Schemeā„¢ certificate arrived.

Fantastic service yet again.

Honestly I have absolutely zero time for most of the accreditations and SSIP schemes. But PQS are genuinely helpful.

It’s also a country mile cheaper than CHAS SMAS Safecontrcator etc.

Done from start to finish in less than 2 working days.

Ross’s top tip to save your Brass. ā€œDo the quickest cheapest and easiest SSIP application. Then do a Deem to Satisfyā€ into whichever other stand SSIP accreditation you need.

You then only need to provide the certificate from the original SSIP scheme member and your insurances to achieve the additional SSIP cert.

It doesn’t get you an increased level just the same but as we all know some clients stipulate certain certs.

Hope this helps a few of you.

Did you know if you have a compressor or air receiver that is over 250bar litres it MUST have a written scheme of examination BEFORE its FIRST USE.

Even if it is brand new.

If it's under 250bar/litres then it falls under PUWER and should still be examined to ensure it is safe to use.

We speak to so many customers every month that have no idea.

Get in touch to book your thorough examination and written scheme on yours.

Do you use L M or H Class dust extraction to control dust?

Did you know it requires a Thorough Examination and Test (a TExT).

The HSE state that ā€œon toolā€ dust extraction is a form of Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV)

Link below:

https://lnkd.in/e4pEyhHE

It’s a requirement of the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002. (Reg 9 in particular) to have a thorough examination and test.

It’s vital that the flow rate, alarm and filter checks are completed.

Get in touch for your dust extraction TExT’s.

A client contacted us after having some complaints from the workforce that their LEV system wasn't "sucking" like it used to.

Their insurance inspector had been in the week before and passed the system but also said that that "velocities needed increasing",

We attended site and after some basic diagnostics found a blockage in the ducting and the filter bags in a less than good condition.

Blockage cleared, filter bags replaced and filter housing cleaned out, new bags fitted and a couple of airflow chevron meters installed to aid as a basic visual indicator there is a problem.

Did you know most insurance companies wont carry out any basic maintenance such as filter replacement, or clear blockages? They definitely wont fit a chevron for you either.

You're not legally obliged to use your insurance company to carry out your statutory examinations.

Let Velocity sort your Velocities. Not just highlight the problem to you then walk away.
