Who’s thinking about your marketing when nobody’s asking them to?

In most owner-led businesses the honest answer is nobody, or the owner, at eleven at night, in between everything else.

Suppliers don’t fill that gap. A supplier waits for a brief, delivers against it and invoices. That’s a fair arrangement and it works when you already know what you want. It falls down when the brief is the thing you’re unsure about.

A partner starts further back. They want to know what the business is trying to achieve commercially, work out what the marketing has to do to get you there, then build it. When something isn’t working they tell you, including when the thing that isn’t working was their idea.

That’s the difference worth paying for.

Ask most owner-led businesses why they’re running the marketing they’re running, and the answer is usually “𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗰𝘁”.

Someone suggested the website looked tired. A competitor started posting more, so they started posting more. An agency pitched a campaign and it sounded reasonable at the time. Each decision made sense on its own. Put them together and there’s nothing underneath holding them in one direction, so there’s no way to judge what’s working and no way to decide what to stop.

Effort isn’t the problem. Most owners are working harder on marketing than they ever have. But hard work without a plan produces activity and invoices.

Since we announced our first ever Padel Charity Tournament in support of Blackburn & Darwen Youth Zone, local businesses have already started signing up their teams, and we'd love to see you out there too.

Here's a reminder of what you're signing up for:

📍 CLUBHOUSE UK, Blackburn
📅 Wednesday 30th September 2026
⏰ Arrive 12:30 - Play from 1PM - Finishes 5PM.
💷 £200 per team (Teams of 2)
✅ Every team guaranteed a minimum of 4 group games, with group winners progressing to knockout rounds.

It's a brilliant excuse to get out of the office, meet other local business owners, and put your money towards something that really matters. The Youth Zone gives young people aged 5 to 25 a safe place to go, a hot meal, and someone to talk to.

Last week we did what we love most. Bringing people together for a cause that truly matters. ⛳

For the 11th year running, we were proud to organise and run Trevor Dawson Commercial Property Consultants' annual Charity Golf Day at Wilpshire Golf Club Limited, supporting the amazing Blackburn & Darwen Youth Zone.

The Youth Zone supports over 5,000 young people with pathways into employment, education, and training, and in an area where youth unemployment remains above the national average, that work has never been more important.

We also designed all of the merchandise for the day, from this year's branded umbrellas to the official World Cup wall charts handed out to every attendee. It is the kind of detail that makes an event feel special, and we loved putting it all together.

Thank you to Trevor Dawson for trusting us with the event once again, and to everyone who attended and supported the day. 💙 ❤️
