Call Connect are a small team who are passionate about customer service. As we all work from home, we do not have the same “call centre” background noise with the added benefit that we can hear your caller, but your caller can also hear us. All callers will be treated as people, with empathy, with compassion and we will always use our initiative where required.

So… Vic has somehow convinced me to sign up for a charity skydive on Saturday 25th July with one of our lovely clients, Ashgrove Health … still not entirely sure how that happened 😅

We’re doing it in support of Medical Detection Dogs 🐾 — a charity that does incredible work and is very close to their hearts (and let’s be honest… anything involving dogs has me saying yes!)

I cannot believe that I almost forgot Vic's workaversary (okay, she reminded me).

2 years ago she came to work with me never having done this type of work before, BUT and it is a big BUT - she had so much people experience, she knew how to manage people and situations (this is the woman who would rugby tackle shoplifters lol) and came with a wealth of customer service behind her that it was a no brainer to take her on.

2 years on and she has learned such a lot, she has taken everything in her stride and I have ignored her when she got her knickers in a twist when her computer "will not do it". I have thrown a lot of new clients at her recently but she has coped amazingly.

On her first day, I told her that she had to dress "properly" even though she was working from home and the photo below was the result 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Vic has brought a lot to this business, she works incredibly hard, and her sense of humour brightens up the darkest of days.

I am so glad that Vic is here, she has no idea how much she makes my day a lot easier 🥰🥰🥰

When you work remotely it can be the small things that keep you motivated and cheer you up.

My Sister and I send each other a small gift each Friday which costs no more than £5.

It has made us inventive with our gift choices but it also requires some thought when deciding "what can I send her this week?"

I’ve had a couple of calls this week where the caller asked, “Can I speak to the owner of the business?”

As a VA, I’ve heard this question more times than I can count. Naturally, I’d respond by asking, “Do you know the owner’s name?” and every time, the answer was a flat “No.”

Lately, I’ve started replying, “Well, I suggest you go find it, then.”

That might sound rude, but think about it: if you’re trying to sell something to a business owner, the least you can do is learn their name beforehand. How unprofessional does it look when you can’t even address someone properly before pitching your product or service?

Why This Matters:

- It shows a lack of genuine interest when you don’t know who you’re speaking to.

- It wastes everyone’s time if you’re not prepared.

- It’s respectful (and strategic) to do basic research before reaching out.

If you really want to connect with a business, knowing the owner’s name isn’t just polite—it’s essential.
