1. Be Transparent - Transparency and open communication with your officers is a key aspect of effective leadership. Transparency gives you the opportunity to explain your decisions and share your vision for the company.

2. Be Proactive, Not Reactive - A good leader needs to be proactive, pushing the company forward rather than just responding to issues as they arrive. A good leader has the foresight to see the crisis coming and take the steps to avoid it.

Cyber security skills gaps in UK businesses
697,000 businesses (51%) have a basic cyber skills gap (50% in 2021)
451,000 businesses (33%) have an advanced cyber skills gap (33% in 2021)

Diversity
22% of the cyber sector workforce is female (versus 30% in all digital sectors)
25% of the workforce come from ethnic minority backgrounds (versus 15% in all digital sectors)
10% are neurodivergent

Cyber security job vacancies
On average 4,400 core cyber job postings each month in 2021 (58% increase from previous year)
44% of job vacancies reported as hard to fill (up from 37% in 2021)
Geographic hotspots include London, Manchester, Bristol and Birmingham

Cyber security workforce gap
Net annual shortfall of 14,100 personnel (up from 10,000 the previous year)
