Lot's of interesting work so far this year, but here are a couple of favourites
A large interior wallpaper graphic added to the interior wall at Dolce Amore in Blandford and a fret cut brushed gold lettering sign mounted onto Perspex at the same location.
This folded aluminium pan style sign was a tricky fitting job at Mathmos since the sign had to be fixed on an interior wall above the shop floor with all the production rollers and tables
Finally local shoppers will notice that David Reale had a re-brand earlier this year and I was delighted to be able to add the finishing touches to his shop.

Some photo's, taken this morning, updating the local Town Council boards. This beautiful and historic oak panelling lines the walls of the Council Chamber and it's always a pleasure to add some new names in gold leaf.

Nice traditional bit of signwriting on this oak framed hanging sign fitted yesterday. Whilst the scaffold was in position we also cleaned and painted the bracket which was looking a bit tired.

Just a few of the signs completed so far this year. At the moment there's a lot of hand lettering and gilding going on, but next week it is mainly vehicle graphics. Always find it funny that work seems to come in batches like, but happy to be kept busy whatever the job.πŸ˜ƒ

Getting to that time of year when inside jobs are much more appealing 😁
Here's how I add gilded lettering to boards. First the lettering is chalked out (a bit of lining tape keeps everything nice and square) Then a tinted size letter is hand painted. Once this has 'tacked off' the sheets of 23ct gild are placed over it to stick down and any excess (not stuck to the size) brushed off. Any holidays (gaps or holes in the gild) are repaired afterwards by repainting and re-giding as before. Some locations need a double layer of gild to add luster and fill any grain in the wood.
Second board is in a local Church which despite the sunshine outside was a bit chilly

Been a busy couple of months and I'll post a few pics of what we've been up to later, but since I often get asked about how traditional work is done here are a few pics showing some signwriting going onto a wall at a local pub. (Notice how uneven the brickwork is on the last but one picture which makes this job a bit more interesting)

Firstly a full sized pattern is drawn and positioned in situ then chalk pounced through this to give an outline on the wall (hand drawing where needed) Two coats of paint later you have the finished article ready to be admired 😁

A quick update on a few of the signs we've made and fitted recently. I particularly liked the refurbished fascia sign for woodenfloors which was looking very 'past prime'. We were able to remove it, strip and repaint in their new brand colour before adding lettering saving the customer buying a new one. Good for the customer and the environment πŸ₯³
