Hello again everyone!

A number of people I bump into online and IRL ask me, ‘how’s it going?’ So I thought a quick update to the world would be in order..

I’m delighted to say that I am finding some interesting and purposeful work coming my way since I last updated you. I am currently partnering in consultancy with West Sussex County Council to undertake a review of the development of the academy programme in the county. This is taking me to schools familiar to some that I had not visited in my two decades working in the local education system. I've been particularly impressed when meeting school leaders and governors so passionate about making good strategic decisions for the best outcomes for children and the future sustainability of education in their communities.

I’m also excited to be working with two excellent lead providers of national professional qualifications - Best Practice Network & Ambition Institute. I’m engaged in leadership performance coach and facilitator roles, focusing on courses for headteachers and executive leaders.

Finally, I’ve enjoyed collaborations and plan-making around creating a consulting partnership with some peers who also recently retired or are soon to retire as school trust CEOs. This in turn has led to an invitation to take on an interim CEO role with a MAT in the process of a merger. Both these items are secret squirrel just now but it just goes to show that life never stands still. All this and people have started asking me to do mediations as well!

I hope you’ve had a great January too.

Hello Everyone!

It's been absolutely ages since I posted anything on here..

Most of you will know from my other platforms that three months ago I announced that I had just left Schoolsworks after 10 wonderful and successful years working in the most exciting and inspiring context of a primary school trust that I had helped to establish. I want to thank all those kind people who took the trouble to comment and offer kind words of appreciation, encouragement and support to me at that time. Sudden and radical life changes, even when you have been involved in choosing the path yourself, is never easy and you need your tribe around you!

The end of summer it was then; we have very definitely moved past the end of Autumn now.. And, grateful for the support of others, I have found some shape for my future. There are a few interesting projects in the pipeline, including working with a local authority education team, planning with colleagues for the creation of a new consulting partnership and engaging in coaching and facilitation with trainee educational executives. I will give more details on this as we go, but for now the message is that I will be looking to support educational leaders professionally in the future. I bring experience in strategy, coaching, collaboration, facilitation and mediation among other things and I am open to offering support where it is needed.

I know there is quite a bit of drift here from the Peaceworks that Micah Jazz and I birthed back in 1999, but the passion for social justice and transformation, relational health and the broader reconciliation agenda remains strong in my heart. However, I am not primarily framing myself or Peaceworks in this season in the context of traditional mediation work. Instead the focus will be around following the themes through education and leadership support.

Thanks everyone for being there and watch this space..

Lovely message sent from a parent to one of our Schoolsworks Academy Trust headteachers recently:

"Dear Peer Mediators

"Thank you so much for helping my daughter last week. She had a fall out with her friend and my understanding is that they were struggling to hear what each other were saying in the heat of the emotions. She has told me that the peer mediators they saw listened to them both and helped them to hear and understand how each other were feeling. The girls are once again the best of friends and walked home very happily together.

"I wanted to reach out and thank you for being calm guiding and mature role models for the girls. I am proud that my daughter is attending a school with such lovely other students to look up to.

"Many thanks once again."
