Now this is crazy - there are very few trees in the Sacred Valley in Peru and the slopes are eroding badly. So instead of planting trees native to Peru they have an Australian landscape of eucalyptus. It may stabilise slopes but is of no wildlife value!

Fungus called Grifola frondosa found on Sweet chestnut at Poledsen Lacey - National Trust. Causes rot in the trunk. Edible - but I haven't tried it!
