️⃣ I am not my job. I have an identity outside of work that I took for granted…my worth is not linked to how busy I am, how successful I am in my career, being reliable, being there for everyone all the time…I couldn’t seperate the two….until now.
️⃣ Making a big change is scary, even if it’s for the best. You have to adapt, re-learn routines, reflect on what you really want life to look like and build your confidence in yourself to get there. Change is powerful but needs commitment and courage.
️⃣ The little things we often ignore can be the most important. Taking a walk during the day. Having the time to go to the gym. Making time to see your friends. Waking up feeling calm. Making space to do something you love - for me that’s picking up a book, listening to a podcast, learning. Rushing everywhere was my life, now I get to walk, not run.
️⃣ Children grow up quickly. I have missed a lot of their childhood. My daughter needs me more than my son did at this age. Presence isn’t just physical, you can still be busy and have a successful career whilst parenting if you are able to be emotionally and mentally present. Balance is possible with the right tools.
️⃣ Life can be a challenge. Some have more challenges than others. I have had a fair few that have left an impact that will always be with me. Resilience is important, but showing vulnerability and asking for help is not a sign of weakness.
️⃣ It doesn’t matter how old you are. There is always time to make changes, big or small. I waited a little too long, but I have had to let go of any regrets. I am thankful for the lessons I have learned and grateful that I can now use them to better my future.
️⃣ Stress does not have to rule your life. You have options, even if it feels like you don’t. We all feel overwhelmed, tired, sad or frustrated at times, but burn out or chronic stress is very different. A holiday, time off, is unlikely to cure burn out.
It’s a journey of healing, repair, recovery and rediscovering the person you want to be. The sooner you spot it, the sooner you can start the journey to a better future 💗💐
