Well, here we start the journey of my next autobiography assignment, this one being a little closer to heart. After much persuasion I have finally got my dear Father to start to put his 80 years of very colourful memoirs into manuscript, and then hopefully we shall go to print, I shall be helping him along the way in my spare time (what spare time!!, I shall make spare time for this!) No idea how long this will take, but herein starts the epic journey ..............

"I walked up the road on that sunny April morning in 1954 with my small parcel under my arm. I had no bag or case; we had nothing small enough in which to carry the few items that I would retain throughout my Initial Training. Just my shaving kit and toothbrush etc., some sandwiches for the journey. I would be issued with all that I needed to see me through my ‘square bashing’ and my civilian clothes would be sent home as soon as I was fully kitted out".
