Most networking isn’t networking… it’s just noise.

👉 Networking tip: Stop asking “who can I sell to?” Start asking “who do I want to understand better?” or sharing what support you need so you will be thought of in other rooms.

“I can show up as myself… and that’s enough.”

For a lot of people, networking feels like a performance. Saying the right things, positioning yourself a certain way. Trying to come across as polished or impressive.

And it’s exhausting.

But real connections don’t come from that. They come from people feeling comfortable enough to just be themselves.

To speak honestly, ask for help when they need it, to share what’s actually going on in their business.

This month we are foccussed on LEARNING - why? Learning in business can feel a bit chaotic, but what do I mean with this?

“There hasn’t been a day where someone hasn’t checked in on me.”

This was shared by one of our members recently, during a really tough couple of weeks.

And it stuck with me, because A) I have been there (who hasn't) but also because networking isn’t just about growth. It’s about support.

Not surface-level “how’s business?” conversations but real people who notice when you’re not yourself, check in, and offer help where they can.

The kind of support that makes running a business feel a little less heavy. You don’t expect to find that in a networking group.

But when you’re in the right room… it becomes part of it.

Today’s mantra: BE IMPOSSIBLE TO IGNORE ✨

At The Ribbons Network Dorset today Ellie | Brand Photographer & Visibility Strategist ✨Dorset, UK shared the results she’s been getting for her clients lately and they are not small wins. HUGE impact happening.

I asked Ellie what people misunderstand about what she does…

Her response: “It’s not just clicking a button.”

Boom.

Because from the outside, marketing can look easy. A post here. A photo there.

But what you don’t see is the strategy, the consistency, the testing, the thinking, the understanding of people… the bit that actually drives results.

Ellie is one of those quietly powerful, sparkly people, consistently delivering and inspiring everyone around her while she does.

Also worth saying… while we’re talking about misconceptions. Apart from Ellie and I, the room was all men today.

Which always makes me smile slightly when I hear that The Ribbons Network is “for women only.”

It’s not. It’s for people who want to grow, build proper relationships, and actually move their business forward. Simple as that.
