One of our own, Lauren Hackett is participating in the Bournemouth Half Marathon this October with her friend Becky. 👏 🏃‍♀️

They will be running a total of 21km (13 mile) to raise money for Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis in memory of her dad, who she lost to Pulmonary Fibrosis last Year.

Pulmonary Fibrosis is a chronic lung condition caused by scarring in the lungs. It is a brutal disease that there is unfortunately no cure at present.

We said a sad goodbye to our customer services manager Cameron Kennedy on Friday.

On Friday 1stWaste had our Christmas party , many thanks to Ellis for organising. It was a great evening to be able to share with all our hard working staff!

Some amazing awards were given on Friday, here is the line up –
Our employees of the year Ryan , Cameron and Dave. They have all had an incredible year and we couldn’t choose just one!
Amy Cole won our Excellence Award for another great year of looking after the sales support team. Tommy was our unsung hero this year for his great work with the audit team. Holly reached her 10 year anniversary with 1st Waste. Cat , Amelia , Saraya & Bridget got a special recognition for there charitable work this year (We raised an amazing £266.55 for Breast Cancel Now as part of Wear It Pink , £131 for Save the children this month for Christmas Jumper day and a huge donation to the local food bank). Angie also had a special recognition award this year for being such an integral person at 1stWaste. Kate won gym bunny for her commitment to the gym! Sian is our newbie of the year! And finally a thank you to Ellis for organising another great Christmas party!

Last week we had the opportunity to take a few staff members for a tour of Rentokil Innovation Centre. Their zoologist and entomologists showed us around and we learnt about their various innovations, products and testing.



Evie & Amy even had the chance to hold a hissing cockroach 😲

Some of our valued staff had the opportunity this week to take a tour of Biffa Eastleigh’s waste transfer station.

A very insightful and interesting trip to be able to see what happens to the waste after it has left our customers and to learn more about waste segregation.
