A few years ago now (on N Harris) and the stags were still going strong at the end of October. I used to take groups out onto the hill to hear the stags roar. I sometimes managed to persuade a cooperative (agressive) stag to come an investigate my roared challenges to him. In hindsight (no pun intended) it was perhaps a little unwise without any form of protective cover or refuge. I'm not sure how my throat would stand up to it now. I may have to treat myself to a DJ or a Hubertus Red stag call from Bushwear.
