A new chapter begins for the UK as Andy Burnham takes office as Prime Minister.

One of the most significant early announcements is the creation of No. 10 North in Manchester. This new office will focus on devolution, regional economic growth and coordinating policy for communities across the UK outside London.

For businesses like ours, this is an encouraging development. As a Yorkshire-based, family-owned security company, we understand the importance of investing in regional businesses, supporting local jobs and ensuring that opportunities aren't concentrated solely in the capital.

What Are Our Managers Really Looking For During Site Visits? 👀
Hint: It’s not just the uniform.

When our managers visit client sites, they’re not there to “check a box.” They’re there to see the little things that make a big difference.

Here’s what we’re actually looking for:

🔎 The First Impression Test
Would we feel safe walking into this site right now? Is our guard alert, visible, and confidently owning the space?

🗣️ The Human Factor
Is our guard providing a calm presence? Are visitors greeted with a smile?

📝 Report Reality
Are reports detailed and meaningful? Or just “No incidents to report”? We look for observation skills, not filler words.

🤝 Client Experience
Would the client describe our guard as dependable, proactive, and professional? We evaluate through their lens.

At the end of December, we welcomed a new client who was dealing with after-hours trespassing and disturbances on their property. People from a nearby area had been entering the grounds at night, setting off alarms and disrupting operations.

From day one, our team jumped straight in. ✅

We increased nightly patrols in the areas being targeted, worked closely with the client’s staff to spot and stop trespassers, and put measures in place to make sure their property stayed secure.

By the end of January, the issue was completely under control, and the client could operate without interruptions.

At our recent meeting, the client said:

“We were constantly dealing with alarms going off at night and it was really affecting our operations. Virpio came in, patrolled the problem areas, and within a couple of weeks it was sorted. Our night shift feels way safer now.”
