AI can help your business, but it can help cyber criminals too.

While being a useful business tool, AI can help attackers research potential victims, create convincing messages and make existing cyber-attacks quicker and more effective.

That means the old ways of spotting a scam are becoming less useful; a well-written email can still be a scam, a familiar logo can still be fake and a message that sounds exactly like your colleague can still be malicious. However, the best defence is very simple and hasn't changed:

Pause🫸🏼. Check☑️. Think before you act🤔.

If you use AI tools, it is also important to be wary about the information you're giving them. It’s obvious to most but sensitive personal information, confidential business data and passwords should never simply be pasted into an AI tool without considering how that information is being handled.

Stay safe and secure on-line.🔒

Everything that is important, to a business or school, is now carried out and stored on-line, and with email, on-line banking, cloud storage, social media and websites - not to mention payroll and accounts software - most of us have far too many passwords to remember.

The danger is, if the same password is being used in several places, one compromised account could potentially open the door to cyber attacks on others.

That's why it is so important to use strong, unique passwords and turn on two-step verification wherever possible or use Passkeys which are becoming increasingly available and recommended by the National Cyber Security Centre.

It is a simple change that can make signing in easier and more secure, but it is also worth checking who still has access to your important business accounts, too - especially those who may no longer work with you.

Would you know a phishing email if you saw it?

New, sophisticated technology means that scam emails are getting much harder to recognise. They can look professional, use familiar branding and appear to come from someone you know.

To help you, we suggest that you pause and ask:
• Was I expecting this?
• Does the request make sense?
• Is the sender really who they say they are?
• Am I being asked to act quickly?

If you're not sure, you could check with the person who emailed you using contact details you already have for them, not the details in the email.

However, don't panic if you have clicked something suspicious; just let someone know straight away.

We are absolutely delighted and incredibly proud to announce that CBS has been shortlisted in TWO BOSS Awards categories in our first year of entering!

The annual BOSS Awards, run by the British Office Supplies and Services Federation, have been celebrating excellence, innovation, leadership, and achievement across the UK workplace supplies sector for over 20 years.

Organisers of the 2026 programme described the quality of this year’s entries as “outstanding”, making the judging process more difficult than ever, so being shortlisted in two categories is a fantastic achievement for everyone at CBS.

We want to say a huge thank you to our customers for your continued trust and support, and to our brilliant CBS team, whose hard work, commitment and care for our customers make achievements like this possible.

The winners will be announced on Thursday 26th November at the BOSS Awards ceremony in Manchester.

Is your workplace working for your people?

We spend a huge part of our workday at our desks, but how often do we stop to think about whether our workstation is set up correctly?

As an accredited DSE Assessor, I'm pleased to offer businesses professional Display Screen Equipment (DSE) assessments to help identify potential issues with an individual's workstation and working practices.

A DSE assessment looks at the way someone interacts with their workstation, including things such as:

🟣 Screen position and viewing distance
🟣 Chair and seating position
🟣 Keyboard and mouse positioning
🟣 Desk and workstation setup
🟣 Lighting and the surrounding working environment
🟣 Posture and working position
🟣 Working practices and opportunities to vary activity

The aim is to identify potential problems and recommend practical adjustments or improvements to help create a more comfortable, healthier, and productive working environment.

DSE assessments are typically £150.00, but as an introductory offer, I'm currently offering them for just £75.

There's an additional benefit too.

After the assessment, if you decide to go ahead with the recommended workplace solutions, I will deduct the £75.00 assessment fee from your order.
