🚧 Demolition Progress Moving Forward in York 🚧
Demolition progress is moving forward at Northern House in York, through a highly coordinated collaboration between us, our external consultants, the principal contractor and the client and client team.

Following extensive investigations to determine how this structure was constructed, We concluded that the safest way to demolish it was to deconstruct it. This project is being executed using a top-down demolition methodology, selected for its superior safety, control, and suitability for dense urban environments. Enabling works involved the demolition of the single storey carpark structure using a specialist excavator with hydraulic breaker & pulveriser attachments to create space to work within and we are now in the process of installing a carefully designed, bespoke back propping system, Scaffolding system & shoring props to the rear of the neighbouring structures, for ultimate protection of the public and surrounding buildings during the ongoing demolition process.

🛠️ Full Scope of Work Includes:
• Early works carrying out internal structural Investigations to establish the “as built” details of the existing building
• Engaged with specialist subcontractors to develop a system of back propping between floors to enable a “top down” demolition solution
• Employed a specialist structural engineer to validate our proposals
• Developed & designed a scaffolding solution practical for the works and the protection of the public and surrounding environment
• Commissioned a specialist supplier to develop a hoist suitable for distributing all plant and equipment between levels to reduce the need for craneage and town centre road closures
• Installing noise, dust and vibration monitoring to ensure all operations are within HSE guidelines
• Using specialist demolition robots and small plant the belong will be demolished using top-down methods removing a floor at a time.
