ESco We are a partnership and solution provider, not one or the other. Today, ESco employs nearly sixty people and continues to expand.

We provide high-quality solutions to publishers, membership organisations, charities, and businesses with a recurring customer base ✨ ESco started life as a partnership between Susan Duffin and Elaine Wright in East London in 1984. The change to sole proprietorship in 1986 left Susan at the helm working for a small group of publishers and with a steadily growing team around her. By 1987, ESco had

moved to Finchingfield in rural Essex, into purpose converted agricultural buildings providing office space and warehousing. Incorporating in 1995, the company continued to acquire prestigious publisher clients through word of mouth and this has continued to shape the future development of the business. Over the years, the business expanded to such an extent that by the year 2000, ESco was offering a full range of subscription and circulation services to publishers. The data preparation and mailing fulfilment side of the business developed concurrently and today includes both publishing and a wide range of non-publishing clients. In May 2006, ESco moved into purpose-built offices & warehousing, Trinity House, allowing for continued further growth. Particularly rewarding is the fact that the expansion has always come about primarily through increased business from existing clients (who once they join, seldom leave) as well as through personal recommendation to new clients.

We understand that what businesses need today looks very different to 40 years ago.

Our solutions wheel might look a little different these days, but the thinking behind it has been evolving for more than four decades ✨

This week, Eve Pullen from Total Politics and her former-colleague-turned-accomplice Sophie Malby will drive more than 1,300 miles across Europe towards Ukraine as part of a Driving Ukraine convoy, delivering life-saving evacuation vehicles to frontline medical teams.

These MedEvac vehicles are used to evacuate wounded soldiers and civilians from areas still under artillery fire and get them to urgent medical care as quickly as possible.

What started as a question of how they could help has turned into an extraordinary and inspiring real-world mission - delivering real vehicles to real medics saving real lives.

ESco have been incredibly moved reading about the challenge they’re taking on, the immense support they're receiving and the determination behind this journey 🚙

If you’re able to donate, even a small amount would make a huge difference in helping cover fuel, supplies, and vehicle preparation for the trip. You can read more about their journey and show your support here: https://donorbox.org/sophieeveukraine

Wishing Eve, Sophie, and everyone involved a safe and successful journey from all of us at ESco 💙 hashtag

Spotify’s updated logo has sparked a lot of conversation online - which in itself says something important about the power of branding.

Some people love it. Some people hate it. Most people have an opinion.

And that’s because strong brands create familiarity. When something people recognise changes, even subtly, audiences notice. It’s a reminder that branding isn’t just visual - it’s emotional. It shapes trust, recognition and the way people connect with an organisation over time.

That’s something publishers and charities understand particularly well. Whether it’s a magazine landing on a doormat, a renewal reminder or a supporter communication, consistency matters. Small changes in tone, presentation or delivery can have a much bigger impact than people expect.

At ESco, we work with organisations where maintaining that recognition and trust is essential - helping ensure communications feel joined up, considered and true to the brand behind them.

Also… We couldn’t resist giving the ESco logo the Spotify disco-ball treatment 🪩

Have you listened to Spotify’s 20th Anniversary “Party of the Year” highlights yet? What was the first song you listened to on Spotify - or your most listened-to artist?! 👀

Last Wednesday, Team ESco headed back to the PPA Festival 2026 for another brilliant day of insight, innovation, and industry conversations.

It also gave us huge pride to return as an event partner for 2026, continuing our long-standing support of an event that brings together so many forward-thinking voices from across publishing ✨

Louise, Alistair, and Ellie spent the day catching up with clients, connecting with peers, and exploring some of the biggest topics shaping the industry right now - from AI and audience engagement to subscriptions, data, and customer retention.

A huge thank you to the PPA team for organising another fantastic event. We came away feeling inspired, energised, and excited for what’s next across the industry.

Renewals are about much more than reminders and expiry dates 💌

In our latest case study, we caught up with our Renewals Manager, Wes Atkins, to take a closer look at how thoughtful customer communications can improve retention, strengthen engagement, and create a smoother subscriber experience from start to finish.

From renewal journeys to customer touchpoints, it’s often the small changes that make the biggest difference ✨
