I received a few messages about the post on Monday about the 3D Scan we completed on the the 1747 painted plaster bust of Prince Charles Edward Stuart (Bonnie Prince Charlie) So I thought I would share a wee bit more information on this.

The bust was commissioned directly by Prince Charles on his return to France, this is the only three-dimensional artwork of Charles. It captures him at a moment of great celebrity status on his return when the culture around his image was at its height as well as his renown, in defeat.

The bust was created by Jean-Baptistite Lemoyne in clay and copies were made in plaster (such as the one we scanned)
