💻🎶BUSINESS IN THE COMMUNITY🎶💻

Demands of business and entrepreneurs never stand still. Ever since setting up OFST Business Consultancy Services, it has always been inspiring to see ambition in the SME economy against the backdrop of a continued volatile trading environment.

Towards the end of last month, I received a referral from a fellow business owner It'seeze Web Design South Wales Valleys, to provide guidance and support for a start-up venture he was talking to at a networking event. We juggled priorities, and after many hours work, 12 meetings, business plan development and guidance and grant application advice, we are now finalising the launch plan.

Being adaptable, shifting priorities and simply delivering is what small businesses expect, and what we deliver every time.

It is also important for me to make time for community engagement, and it has been a pleasure to squeeze in some voluntary work this week. What an honour to be part of the Brynteg School team today handing out GCSE results to hundreds of very nervous year 10 & 11 students. More tears of happiness than anything else!! Not forgetting our monthly Committee meeting with Bridgend Male Choir, as we head towards our Annual Concert.

Meeting new peers at a Syniadau Mawr Cymru / Big Ideas Wales discussion this week and carrying out some business mentoring work for Business Wales / BusnesCymru has been enlightening. It's great that Welsh Gov offers support to business using experience in the local community.

Thanks to all the businesses we have supported this week for entrusting in us. Yes, there will be challenges and hurdles ahead, but those businesses are in better shape today, clearer and more confident, than they were when the week began!! Ready to take on the competition and drive profitable growth. 🚀

For some, July and August are quieter months, while we all enjoy a well earned holiday, or even a staycation in this extended summer heatwave.

Small businesses often find it difficult to make time to see beyond the here and now, and daily operations and customer demands rightly take priority.

Though as we approach the autumn months, we are well into Quarter 3, and now is a great time to take that pause, and think about the remainder of the year, and the years ahead.

What would we do without our fans? Supporting two new clients in their business planning process involves quite some time on the lap-top, so was it the garden or inside today?

Well, 10 mins in a South West facing garden was enough! 🥵

When developing a business, it’s important to be adaptable. To move when the signals are there or ideally when they are first anticipated. To stay ahead of the competition when buying behaviour changes.

To take carefully calculated risks, and ensure the business critical ones are properly risk managed / insured.

To be ambitious, though keeping it real.

***BUSINESS AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT*** - giving something back.

I normally stop short of some local traditions to post weekly updates of activities. This week though has seen such a variety of positivity and activity, both in my mission to serve in the community and to continuously expand the scope of what OFST Business Consultancy Services has to offer in its quest to support business growth ambitions, turn chaos into clarity and advise on best practices while stimulating new ideas and continuous improvement. I thought a few items worthy of a shout out!

Last week started (Monday and Thursday mornings) with a visit to . Not what you may think, just the start of a process to become a magistrate!! Together with a position on the Board of Trustees at Y Bont and an active committee member of Bridgend Male Choir, it’s such a pleasure to be able to give something back to the local community.

In between, to be able to provide advice, coaching and support to leaders (including two new customers with very different requirements) all wishing to make a difference and grow their businesses, has been inspirational.

It was a trip up the valleys last Friday, and two inspiring discussions with It'seeze Web Design South Wales Valleys and South Wales Insurance Brokers, discussing how their businesses are successfully evolving and seeking additional ways in which we can collaborate (and to provide some referrals)! Great to visit your new premises chaps. Coffee wasn’t bad either!
