Happy Friday!
.though for us, it's more of a "Happy almost finishing the drilling holes; cutting finished plasterwork; poking cables through a 900mm wide void between walls, so Openreach can come back to complete their works" - kind of day!

We're in the middle of a multi-gigabit leased line and wifi install in a large building that has been converted in to 12 high-end apartments and three retail premises in Scarborough, and all the drilling and routing of cables has had to be undertaken by our team (with some help from our friends at RNet for terminating many of the Cat6 drops), so that Openreach didn't have to delay everything with surveys, risk assessments, and all the associated works that could cause delays.

But after five gruelling days of drilling and praying that our calculations and checking the walls for hidden pipework and wiring, the drilling work is complete.

Next stop - fibre splicing and routing.

There are an awful lot of ads from other communications providers, offering Three SIM deals at just £10.00 per month, but only to self employed or business users.

Why?

Because the £10.00 per month is excluding vat, and they assume that self employed and business users are VAT registered, and £10.00 looks better than £12.00 once the VAT has been added, that non-business users can't reclaim.

Also, the contract they don't mention, is more than likely 36 months.

Oh, and for the prices they offer, you need to commit to 3 SIMs, so if you need just the one, you're out of luck.

Occasionally we receive a message from a client that makes us remember just why we do what we do.

This one wasn't actually from.a customer, but someone we had got to know outside of work. Long story short, he lost his wife a couple of years ago, and more recently, tragically lost his daughter.

And then he managed to kill his mobile phone, with all his treasured photos and memories. They were all backed up to the cloud, but with no knowledge of his passwords as his daughter had set everything up many years back, he thought he'd lost everything.

He mentioned to me a few nights ago when we were chatting, and I suggested ways to recover his passwords etc, that he simply hadn't thought of.

This was his reply this afternoon.

Big smiles here in the office - a perfect way to end the week :)

A very good morning to all of our followers. It's a beautiful - if not a little windy - morning here in Bridlington!

As a business based in Bridlington, we love supporting other local businesses (12 years in BNI!), and it was our pleasure to bump in to the lovely Sophie from Booths Crafty Kitchen whilst in town this morning, and buy a couple of her tasty treats from her stall on Bridlington Market. They're going to go down very well with one of our coffees today!

..and this is why networking with a great breakfast networking group works!

We had the pleasure of meeting a lovely Utility Warehouse distributor this morning who attended as a visitor at our My Business Networking - Scarborough breakfast networking group.

Although UW offer products that overlap with our service offering, there are some services that we provide - ie VoIP telephony - that they don't. This lady could see the potential benefits of working with us collaboratively, and wanted to have a virtual meeting to discuss how we could further help each other.

We already have many UW distributors who regularly refer business to us by recommending us to their clients (and many of these distributors actually use us for their own telephony services), and we appreciate their referrals. And they know that they can rely on our expertise to look after the telephony needs of their clients.

Instead of competing for business, why not work collaboratively? Networking works. And this proves it.

We look forward to working with this new distributor soon. A new introducer for us, that we would never have gained without networking :)

After a ludicrously early start with a 2:45 alarm; leaving at 03:45 to get to Hinckley in Leicestershire for a 07:00 meeting with our friends our old BNI breakfast networking group; a fantastic 1-2-1 with a Utility Warehouse distributor to show how we can help them and their customers make a smooth transition to our VoIP services; plus a site visit to one of our other construction and civil engineering clients - we have checked in to our hotel and it is time for a well-earned drink at the bar - before we fall asleep 😂

Massive thanks to Mortgage Advice Bureau - Hinckley for inviting us back to see our friends at BNI Business Connect, and wonderful to see Lee Griffiths, Sharon Lewin, Richstone Park Financial Planning, Pete the Printer, North Wilshire Carpets, Mary Morgan Beacon Advice along with so many other quality businesses that have joined this fabulous networking group since we said goodbye and relocated to Yorkshire three years ago.

We won't leave it so long to visit next time :)

Great start to my Thursday at My Business Networking - Scarborough!

This morning’s meeting was a brilliant reminder of the value of connecting with like-minded professionals. A special shout-out to Theresa Hargreaves, who gave a fantastic and insightful presentation about her work as a business coach with We've Got This.

Theresa spoke with passion and clarity about the importance of mindset, accountability, and tailored support in helping business owners achieve their goals.
