Two new contracts secured this week!

I’m pleased to share that Calder Safety Solutions Ltd has been appointed to support two fantastic organisations:

✅ Health & Safety Retainer for a local charity, helping Trustees create a safer environment for their staff, volunteers and visitors.

☀️ CDM Advisor for a major UK solar energy project, supporting the safe delivery of renewable infrastructure from the pre-construction phase through design coordination.

These appointments reflect our continued growth in both the charity sector and construction & renewable energy industries.

A huge thank you to our clients for your trust and confidence. We look forward to building strong partnerships and delivering practical, proportionate health and safety solutions.

Proud to be supporting a local wind farm refurbishment project as CDM Client Advisor and CDM Principal Designer.

This month we’ve been working closely with the project team to help ensure health and safety is embedded from the earliest stages of the refurbishment. Activities have included:

* ✔️ CDM reconnaissance site visit
* ✔️ Review of existing Pre-Construction Information (PCI)
* ✔️ Assessment of lifting plans and lifting operations
* ✔️ CDM review of the proposed construction arrangements and risk controls

This project represents another exciting milestone for Calder Safety Solutions, supporting the renewable energy sector while helping our client meet their duties under the CDM Regulations 2015.

It’s also a fantastic opportunity to develop the next generation of safety professionals. Our youngest advisor has joined us on the project, gaining valuable experience and insight into the planning and management of a high-risk working environment under the guidance of our experienced team.

We’re proud to play our part in delivering safer, well-managed projects that support the UK’s renewable energy infrastructure.

Today wasn’t about health and safety, audits, deadlines or emails.

After a busy few months, it was time to step away from the desk, switch off the laptop and focus on something just as important — wellbeing.

Nearly 3 hours, over 8 miles, almost 17,000 steps and some incredible Yorkshire scenery later, I’m reminded how important it is to make time for yourself.

As business owners and professionals, we’re often focused on looking after everyone else, solving problems and meeting deadlines. But sometimes the best thing you can do is take a break, clear your head and recharge.

The fresh air, open countryside, wind turbines, Highland cattle and good company made for the perfect reset.

Tomorrow the emails, projects and to-do lists will still be there. Today was about perspective, wellbeing and appreciating what we have around us.

A healthy mind is just as important as a safe workplace.

🎉 Proud Dad & Proud Employer Moment 🎉

I’m incredibly proud to announce that our apprentice and son, Dylan Sparks, has successfully passed his NEBOSH National General Certificate.

Over the past six months, Dylan has shown remarkable commitment, resilience and determination. He has overcome adversity, worked in some challenging environments, and balanced the demands of studying alongside his professional responsibilities.

During this time, Dylan has been supporting Myerscough College as an on-site Health & Safety Officer within the Health, Safety and Security Team, working alongside Gary Buckett. This has provided invaluable practical experience while developing his knowledge and understanding of health and safety management.

Achieving the NEBOSH General Certificate is a significant milestone and reflects the hard work, dedication and professionalism Dylan has demonstrated throughout his apprenticeship journey.

Congratulations Dylan – this is a fantastic achievement and one that you should be incredibly proud of. We are excited to see you continue to develop within our teams and look forward to watching your career progress over the coming years.

The future is bright, and this is only the beginning. 👏

Day 2 of IOSH Managing Safely complete at Myerscough College! 🚜⚙️

Another fantastic day with a brilliant group of delegates who brought plenty of discussion, enthusiasm and real-world experience to the course.

One of today’s highlights was having the opportunity to use the engineering workshop and agricultural machinery for our practical hazard awareness session. Being able to identify hazards in a live environment, rather than just from slides, generated some excellent conversations around risk perception, safe systems of work and practical risk controls.

From tractors and PTO shafts to workshop activities and maintenance tasks, the session demonstrated just how valuable hands-on learning can be in developing a proactive safety culture.

A huge thank you to all of the delegates for their participation and engagement throughout the day – your input has made for an informative, interactive and enjoyable course.

It’s always a pleasure working with the team at Myerscough College and seeing the excellent facilities and commitment to developing the next generation of professionals across agriculture, engineering and land-based industries.

Looking forward to Day 3! 👏
