What does your Calderdale Current contribution actually build?

Your energy bill includes your contribution of 0.1p to 0.5p per kWh, and Hawley Energy donates that element of its commission to a Community Energy Fund managed independently by the Community Foundation for Calderdale.

Once the fund reaches £10,000, eligible organisations can apply for grants towards energy-saving, carbon-reduction and environmental measures. That could include charities, community interest companies, non-profit organisations and private companies with a suitable community or environmental project.

There are clear boundaries:

• The fund is not general business-cost support.
• Organisations must have held their energy supply contract for at least six months.
• Eligibility, award levels and project approval are decided by the Community Foundation for Calderdale, not Hawley Energy.
