When did you decide to transform your passion for honey and wine into a business venture?
It was in 2021, following my master’s degree at the University of Sussex, that I founded BMAC International Trade Ltd in the United Kingdom (BMAC – British-Hungarian Trade). At the heart of the company's mission is the promotion of sustainable business practices while strengthening British-Hungarian trade relations. BMAC actively supports renowned Hungarian beekeepers by showcasing their award-winning, authentic honey not just in the UK but with plans for global expansion.
BMAC extends beyond honey. Thanks to my family’s 200-year winemaking tradition, the company also represents the exceptional quality of "New-Old World" wines in the UK. Recognizing that industry experts need business acumen, BMAC leverages its network to connect them with British consumers seeking unique, authentic products that prioritize health and personal preferences.

Participating in the B2B Growth Expo in Southampton on January 25th, 2024, was an extraordinary experience. The event commenced with a special ceremony, inaugurated by the Lord Mayor of Southampton, Cllr Valerie Laurent, at 10:00 AM. The expo was a resounding success, offering valuable opportunities to connect with other businesses and explore potential collaborations. We showcased our premium-quality products, Bee Huro Honey and Huro Winery, and we're honored to have been featured in Southampton's prominent B2B exhibition magazine. We extend our gratitude to the organizers for their excellent work.

I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude for the incredible experience I had as an exhibitor at the Spirit of Christmas last week. It was my first time attending this event, and it was truly enlightening.

As a wholesaler, BMAC International Trade (www.bmacinternational.com), I also wanted to personally connect with my B2C customers and serve them to the best of my knowledge. The 7-day-long expo brought together an impressive number of 33,000 customers, all eager to purchase their Christmas presents.

I want to extend a special thank you to Alireza Yaghmaei, the founder of Trading Agency (GTA), for his unwavering support and guidance throughout the week. His presence and invaluable contribution played a crucial role in making this experience unforgettable.

I am also deeply grateful to the GTA director Marco Rossi and Dr Rami Wakim ❣ Fertility and Reproductive Specialist for their continued support and presence during the exposition and not lastly for connecting me with business owners who are interested in promoting my wines. Their expertise and insights added immense value to my interactions with customers.

Additionally, I would like to thank Jonny Ambrose for his hard work and professional guidance. His dedication and support were instrumental in ensuring a successful week. I am also thankful to Eva Dios for her tremendous effort in providing me with support.

Thank you all for making this experience memorable, and for your contributions to my journey. I am grateful for the opportunity to learn from you all and enhance my understanding of my customers' needs.

The following interview was conducted with Béla Horváth, the mayor of Szalacs:

Question: Szalacs is famous for its thousand cellars. What makes this settlement so special?

Béla Horváth: Indeed, Szalacs can boast the title of the "village of a thousand cellars," as it has the most cellars in Bihar County. This is an extremely interesting and unique phenomenon even within the Carpathian Basin. The reason behind this is that in the past, a large marshland extended here, which prevented people from building their cellars under their houses. Instead, they carved them into the hillsides, creating a terraced system. There are a total of eight main streets and several smaller ones in the village. The construction of the cellars started mainly in the 1700s, but the most beautiful and largest ones took their final form in the 1900s.

Question: What interesting things can visitors encounter when they come to Szalacs?

Béla Horváth: Szalacs is indeed an extremely interesting and unique settlement. The cellars here give the village a distinctive appearance, so it is worth visiting them and exploring the terraced system. In addition, Szalacs is rich in historical and ethnographic values. The museums, churches, and local cultural events in the village also offer many interesting attractions.

Question: What are the city's future plans regarding the cellars?

Béla Horváth: We consider the preservation and presentation of the cellars to tourists to be very important. We already organize cellar tours and events in the village to allow as many people as possible to experience this unique feature. In the future, we aim to further develop the tourism opportunities and make the cellar village even more attractive to visitors.

Question: Do you have any message or messages for those who visit Szalacs?

Béla Horváth: We warmly welcome everyone to Szalacs! You can visit a place where you can encounter the atmosphere of the past and explore the unique world of the cellars. The people living here are friendly and hospitable, and they are happy to share the history of their village. Let the charm of Szalacs captivate you and enrich you with memorable experiences.

Thank you, Mr. Béla Horváth, for the interview, and I wish you success in the future!
